GETTING SOME MILES IN THE OLD LEGS! (hiking preparation) - I catch Calmac to Cumbrae and Millport
This walk is part one in three planned walks this summer. Great Cumbrae is officially 'easy', with a 'moderate' and 'hard' coming in the next six weeks. I catch a Calmac ferry to Great Cumbrae and walk around the island, walking through Millport and seeing Little Cumbrae Island.

Nor me lol
Simply lovely! Just surprised that there weren't more hikers along the route. All those pretty flowers to keep you company. Certainly was a great walk especially without any of those pesky automobiles. And the weather was very amenable as though specially ordered 👌.
WHY HAVE I NEVER TRIED THE HOT DOG HACK!? Great video as always Scott
Used to have a little holiday house in Millport, we went every school holiday. It was great as a child . Nice memories, thanks for posting this ❤
Ah the lion and I remember the Crock Rock as well.
Lovely film Scott, but blackberies !! surely brambles lol
🤣🤣🤣love the travel hack 🌭
Beautiful island and great video Scott. Can't believe you didn't show the crocodile on route to Millport though.... 🤷
Scotland is amazing
Man packed himself a dirty water dog 😂
You are mad, but I love you! That hot dog had me belly laughing. You are my role model!

Reminded me of Zzap from my childhood lol
What a beautiful part of the world. Greetings from Perth, Australia.😎
Used to live on Largs when I was a kid in the 70s and we often got taken round Cumbrae on the back of bikes by our parents. You hired them I Millport. In those days you could get the Keppel over to Millport and then they built the ferry slipway that is used now.
I've finally got through all 184 of your videos after coming across your channel a few months back
I ran round in my late teenage running days. Started and finished at the Newton in Millport. That was a great pint afterwards 🍻
I live in Millport!!!! long time fan of your videos
Absolutely love your adventures 💟💟💟💟💟
Beautiful island
first time that I'm aware of Great (and Little) Cumbrae, very nice
Loved the hot dog hack 👍👍👍👍
hello Scott, been enjoying your videos. There are 2 paddle steamers still operating in new orleans, the creole queen and the natchez.....fun cruise

Yes they maybe but I think they are river boats whereas the Waverley is sea going
Love your videos very in formative and you leave nothing out keep up the good work
Beautiful scenery.
People must be so fit on that island
Beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
Another great video Scott. Highly entertaining. Well done.
Don't think I could walk ten miles, but nice scenery 👍
Well, that means you're about a foot closer to heaven. 😎
Looking forward to your next two walks
Well done Scot looks a fab place well done Paul
Hello from Ireland. Thanks for sharing
What a wonderful hike this is and such beautiful scenery. I didn't see many happy faces among the cyclists as they seemed so intent on cycling and not so much on the scenery. I think you may have stumbled upon a little trist in those berries lol! Berry suspicious me thinks.
Delightful! I feel as if I was on the walk with you. Brilliant about the hot dog!
Hi Scott Great video not able to recall when I last visited Millport despite living close it 50yrs or so ago.My late parents holidayed there and had many cycle rides roon the island.
So nicely filmed content bud, landscapes are gorgeous. 🔥
Ketchup on a hot dog? Well, I know some people do it, but mustard for me.
Good luck with whatever walking event you are building up to
For a while I have been wondering if I could keep a sausage roll warm in a flask during my winter walks. Well now I have an alternative. Thanks Scott. Keep up the great work.
Fab video as always. I have timetable and hiking challenge for you: Get one of the 2 buses per day from Oban (will it turn up?) north to Appin (look out for the castle use in Monty Python). Walk to the little ferry at Port Appin and cross to Lismore, then walk Lismore to the other port at Achnacroish and ferry back to Oban. What could possibly go wrong and might you get marooned on the island?! There is a cafe on the island as your reward.
Lovely looking island Scott, will need to do a day trip sometime never been over yet, but have been to Largs a few times. 👍
I did this on bike back in my university days when I spent a week on the island studying marine biology. We were there on the last week of August when they had their wild west themed festival in Millport. Beautiful island but sadly I've yet to return.
Arran would be a good stretch Scott but would take something like three days I reckon!

The Arran coastal trail. A walking trail that goes round the island. It is 105 km.
Great views, great home made catering, not too sure about the distance walked, currently on 18K steps for today in the East Midlands heat (keeping law and order on a football pitch - slowly) this morning. Hope you get more suitable weather for the next walks - more railways though please.
Scott from Scotland 🏴
Like the sausage in the flask, how long does it take to cook
The Victorians came into Millport Pier or Keppel Pier on paddle steamers and steam ships, so wouldn't have been walking from the slipway. The slipway only dates from the introduction of car ferries. That may be why there is no pavement on the east side
Thank you so much for sharing this! So much nicer than ghastly Calais or Paris! Have you been to Norway per chance?
Hi Scott home away home. When I do my weekly long run in preparation for the marathons I run millport twice. And when I retire am buying a house there
This obviously was not done this weekend when there was 130 min waits
Have you managed to see a basking shark at all?
Hi Scott hope your well I have a suggestion on this video you mentioned about the pavement on the quieter side of the island do you think back in the day 40 yrs or more that might have been the main side of the island hence the pavement. ? Just a thought
I see the lion as a person facing the ground...🤷♀️
How many times did a car alarm go off? Because I was on one and there was quite a few 😂
Is the hard one attempting Ben Nevis again?
Enjoyed your video although you could not be more wrong saying not much happens here.
No way I’m in your video
You need some SPF 50 sunscreen cream for your complexion…
Thats it...I cant watch anymore cause a man on a small island pulling out his big sausage is shocking...HEHE..Just kidding
Absolutely love your adventures 💟💟💟💟💟
