@KanashiiFX Not completely. Those sponsors are wanting CdawgVA specifically, he CAN'T separate it. However, from my understanding, Conner does a lot of other work we don't know about.

Respecting the restraint it must have taken Connor to not go where his mind probably told him to go when SungWon said "stigma"

@@jeffhappens1 People do a ton of "Deez nuts" style jokes in his stream content and he did it on a couple of Trash Taste streams where he would just do a joke like that or seize the opportunity when someone else would say part of one he knew. As the other person said, people will bait someone by saying "stigma" and then say "stigma balls in your mouth" or something like that.

Choosing a VA based off of him just being a KZreadr however is also pretty stupid, because that's what happend in the german dub of Sonic. A youtuber voiced him, who has absolutely no idea how to do VA and the dub is fucking unwatchable.

I always found it weird that some people would never hire someone because they may be too overqualified for a job I understand it's because they may not be able to pay the person enough but if that person wants to work there I don't think the first thing that comes to mind is the pay much less either out of enjoyment or the experience

I mean, if one actor is noticeably better than the rest of the cast, it can be pretty distracting. Though that's usually more of an issue with low budget projects.

@@petfriendamy this, I read oshi no ko and they talked about. One of the best actors had to make sure not to overdo it lest she brings out how bad the other actors were. People noticed that the acting was bad, but it was still watchable coz everyone was 'average'

Considering youtubers like the Paul brothers, I think the stigma is that youtubers are idiots who happen to have a talent for accidentally getting famous in the eyes of dumb children.

Waiting for ProZD to voice an official character in Genshin, he once voiced an NPC there so if that happens...I'll definitely pull for his character

Choosing a VA only because he’s a famous KZreadr is so stupid, in my opinion. In some German dub’s they sometimes choose a person only because he/she is popular in social media even so his/her voice acting isn’t really good.

@@seva7500 Not in any official/professional capacity until recently. All her early works were for fandubs/fan projects only and following those are basically working as "Lilypichu" for game and anime announcements. Her roles for Shadowverse was due to Lilypichu being Lilypichu and her fame, hence my comparison in getting her role in Genshin. Don't get me wrong I like Lilypichu but we cant deny that she got a lot of her roles because she is already a established content creator.

That's interesting considering I'm seeing streamers get voice acting roles in anime lately

'It's 50/50, some voice actors say X and others say Y' is the most core truth of voice acting.

I remember when TheOdd1sOut announced he was doing a Netflix show there was a lot of support. But there was a vocal part that was like “They cancelled so and so for this youtuber garbage?!” Or even people taking some cancellable stuff to try and smear him and be like “Don’t support this”

KZreadrs produce lower production value content. (usually) Obviously a fully funded show getting canceled to promote some youtuber is going to anger some people, and they do have some kind of a valid point

Bro I played as Flak in Borderlands 3 and never knew he was the VA for him that's badass

As someone who has gotten serious on working on building my portfolio for voice acting I know getting a social media would help me get exposure I'm just worried because many of the platforms are either oversaturated or there's just a lot of drama I'd rather not be susceptible to two I mean don't get me wrong I know wherever I go there are going to be problems like that it's just that places like Twitter is a known Cesspool and Instagram is very difficult to stay relevant.

Well said. Social media is over all a great tool to get your name out there, but it should not be mandatory to get a job. In some scenarios social media can even have negative effect. For example, when/if recruiters are more interested in your numbers than your skills. Secondly, if social media has somewhat big impact on who gets the job, it can lead to mental health issues if/when the following isn't what is needed.

Industry contacts are far more important than social media. Social Media is a necessary tool if your a creator looking to market yourself, but it won’t get you work Having a good portfolio will help you get your foot in the door more often, but the most important thing is networking and building contacts. It can also help you get into a union, but not everyone wants that

Didn't ProZD lend his voice to a "character pack" in Monster Hunter Rise recently? Maybe it was his way of getting his foot in the door with Capcom.

It is good practice given the many scenarios you talk through, just be sure to not connect your work directly with KZread.

There are some shows that straight up hire KZreadrs because of the numbers. You see these shows hire 5 or more KZreadrs, some with zero experience with voice acting then the KZreadrs promote the show. Same thing has happened with a few life action indie movies

I don’t understand why people hear youtuber, and immediately think you can’t do anything outside of 2015 Lele Pon esk skits or something. Like what even is a KZreadr? Hbomberguy and Mr. Beast have no similarities aside from having KZread channels that are completely different from each other. So where’s the stigma coming from?😭

Like, even if I'm an honest and good employer looking for VA, someone who just do things like that probably wouldn't be the first of my choice. I'd be super skeptical. Yes, you can check the person to know more, but on cam to off cam personality can be different, which is what will make me skeptical.

Because that’s a great way to get blacklisted. The industry is full of assholes, but you remain professional and work with them till the project is over. After that you can choose not to work with them anymore, that might limit your opportunities but it’s up to you

There are other KZreadrs who have done voice acting. For example, Jon bailey is credited for his role as Torch Man in Mega Man 11. From what I've heard and seen, almost everything he's involved with has to do with using his voice.

No way it was him, not only did he openly support DBZA he even voiced one of the characters under an alias. He was also one of the directors for DBS which hired Nathan Sharp to do the English version of the ToP opening. He’s worked alongside KZread VAs many times and even has friends that are VAs and do KZread on the side I don’t know who kicked him off that project, but it was probably someone from an outside studio since funimation’s in-house team has done a lot of work with KZread VAs

SungWon Cho, a voice actor who goes by ProZD online. He's largely known for his short-form skit videos, but also has a fair amount of "real" voiceover work under his belt as well.

VTuber is someone playing/voicing a character. Some of them (in Japan specifically) are originally voice actors before they become VTubers.

Honestly it may sound mean but seeing English dubs now a days I can understand why they would deny KZreadrs English dubbing now a days has been filled with nothing but memes, and instead of using the original JP OPs and endings it's always some cover done by a KZreadr exe DBS openings in English.. personally I have nothing against KZreadrs but would rather dubbing be did by well known VAs who have that experience
