14 seconds faster than chicago on a harder course, amazing!
Congrats on an amazing race! I ran my first marathon and couldn’t make any of the shakeouts because I was working night shifts 😅. Picked up a calf strain right before the marathon that limited me the whole way but I finished and now time to get healthy. Your videos will continue to inspire me and help me keep on training!
I saw you near the starting line on ESPN! Great job today!

Nuts, you wanted 2:43 and got exactly that! Awesome running as always
I used your Improver marathon training plan for my local marathon on Sunday and improved my PB of 4:40 10 years ago to 4:17 now at the age of 60! Felt great and thinking about the next one! Loved all the workouts in the plan. Thanks very much!
Tower Bridge is more iconic photo opp but the crowd coming off Queensboro Bridge onto First Avenue is soooooo loud and inspiring. Hard to pick a favourite.
I also ran the NYC marathon. Tower Bridge surpasses NYC for bridges and landmarks but maybe because I’m a Londoner
Awesome! I live at Mile 21 in Harlem and was out routing for folks today! Hope you did well!
Saw those pink gloves holding the GoPro flashing past 😅, amazing run once again considering the filming and chatting to the camera! Very well done.
Just when you think you're pacing yourself really good, the 59th Street Bridge happens. One of the toughest stretches in all of the 6 Marathon Majors is the 59th Street Bridge.
Chipotle before a marathon is bold 😬
It was a pleasure meeting you at the shakeout run. It was a lot of fun. I love how your reviews are not influenced. It's great seeing you purchase your own shoes. However, I can't believe you ate those vile bagel. You could have gotten the best bagels in the world. As a life long New Yorker I'm offended. But i guess nothing new on race day.
I was running behind you in the shakeout run and didn’t realize it was you until I saw your pink gloves. Didn’t get to say hi in Chicago so I’m glad I got to see you and Kofuzi in NYC.
Thanks for your fabulous upbeat effervescent videos - they are a joy to watch.
Awesome video, thank you Ben.
Another great insight to one of the great Marathon Majors. Thank Ben. It brings back great memories.
Thank you for sharing your journey and always giving us advice! Love all of your videos. Keep on being you and inspiring us all
Congratulations Mr.Ben!You are always a good example to all runners!Stay humble and simple hope to see you soon and Ms.Sarah!God bless you and your family!❤❤❤
Brilliant. I love the way that as you were predicting your finish time, you walked past the front awning of a life coach and psychic.

Well done, Ben 2.43 👏 look forward to the video when you get back 👍
Having run both London and New York, Tower Bridge definitely gets the win over Queensboro Bridge.
Great video as always Ben! I'm looking forward to seeing you smash Valencia! 🙌🏼
Watched it on TV this morning. Pretty sure I saw you cross the start line
Great video Ben, really enjoy these preparation videos. The expo looked amazing. Loved all the shots around New York and your excitement was bursting through the screen, you was giving me butterflies!! 😂
Loved this video ben looking forward to those shoe reviews
Was great fun tracking you today. Absolutely smashed it as always. Look forward to seeing the race video. Congrats Ben 🎉
Congrats, Ben!!
So exciting watching your video on this well-earned opportunity running the NYC Marathon! Nice that you and Sarah are enjoying my neck of the woods!!👩🏼🦰🫶🏻
Goodness, whole lot of activity! Looks like great fun.
Hi Ben! I saw you on the replay on ABC this evening! Right as you were crossing the start line, talking to your GoPro! You should see if you can find it! Great race!!!

It is very busy.. but there are quieter spots to get away from it all. The park is lovely!
Love your reviews and the fastest "hello everybody" on earth :)
Had to have a sneak as was following how Andy Buchart would do on his debut marathon, and London way more attractive on the eye than New York, sky scrapers and few green or trees not for me, but get that beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
Congrats Ben!!! GREAT to finally meet you at Fleet Feet!
Hi when is Sarah going to continue with her youtube channel? Also well done today and stay well for Valencia.

@@BenParkes A porta potty stop with a queue took away my chances for an under-4. Went to Plan B and executed. Hope you and Sarah enjoyed your time and sorry I missed you guys at Kofuzi’s shakeout. Best to you in Valencia!!
Good Luck
Ran NYC you flew past around mile 4? 1st Av was crazy as is Tower bridge but The Scream Tunnel at Boston tops both!!
Hope it went well
Good luck from Poland 🇵🇱
great video as always! are you planning on uploading sarahs UTMB racevideo? all the best!

Sarah didn’t make a UTMB video I’m afraid. Glad you liked this one!
Come to run Mex City Marathon in August 2024
Hey Ben. I got short footage of you passing our mile 25 water station in Central park. I was a volunteer there. If you want I can send it to you, you can use it in your video. You were fast so you were in the frame for less than 5 seconds. You looked strong after 25 miles or running. Congratulations
Relax man, you did great :)
It's interesting that someone of your performance level still talks about pre-race nerves :) I nearly dropped of my half marathon last week if it weren't for my best friend exhorting me to go despite everything (pseudo calf-niggle, lost keys, wrong bib number etc.)

Those nerves and weird pains happen to so many people.. I’ve always had them, but things usually work out ok in the end!

Hey Ben - mind explaining what you wear the calf sleeves for?
Ah for a few moments I thought maybe I had beaten you in your last NY marathon race by 13mins, but I hadnt-I beat you by a year-I did it back in 2007! I got muddled I got married in 2008/did my 1st marathon in 2007. Actually my lovely wife then girlfriend was waiting with Jaffer cakes at the start of 1st ave.
I'm a life long Londoner. I've run both NYC and London. 1st Av IS better than Tower Bridge. there, I said it! In fact I'd go so far as to say it's a better event overall. The Expo is better. The crowds are better. The on course entertainment is better. Yes, getting to the start is a faff. And Yes, you are hanging around for an awful long time at Fort Wadsworth in the cold. But it remains my favourite marathon to date. (Though the year I did it, there was a bag drop, so not sure if that's a new thing or the same "bag drop OR post race poncho")
@BenParkes

There was no bag drop for anyone this year.. I think they stopped it a few years ago!

@@BenParkes well thats a bit poor. A major should really have it. Especially as UPS still sponsors the event and they organised it previously. 🤷♂️ Hopefully they'll see sense and bring it back.
How does someone have the legs to have run Chicago a month before and then turn around and do New York just a few weeks later

When I ran NYCM in 1998, they put on a huge pasta party the Saturday evening. That followed a warm up run in the morning - called the International run, I think, which recognised the diversity of nations represented by the field of runners. Is this still what happens?
@BenParkes

I didn’t hear anything like that happening this year.
You are gonna be the fastest Ben on the course 😂

Epix 2. Said it wrong, but we corrected it on the screen.
I got an entry by getting a good for age time at a UK half marathon , don’t think it has to be a NYRR event
@daviddrentin5981

Yep can’t be any race he got that wrong
@BenParkes
8 ай бұрын
It can be any race yes, but it sells out almost instantly.. you have to be very very quick. If you qualify in a NYRR race it’s a guaranteed entry and can just take it up and pay very calmly.
