I found out I was pregnant a few days after watching your pregnancy announcement, and I just want to say thank you for normalizing the roller coaster of emotions you feel. I always envisioned myself just being extremely excited and happy, but it turned out I was initially more scared, doubtful of myself, and in shock of my new reality. There's such a weird duality of feeling loss for your old life and excitement to meet that new little human! A first pregnancy IMHO is like being in the waiting room - waiting to meet your new self as a mother and your new family member. I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly!

I’m so glad we’re getting to this point where so many bloggers get pregnant and have a gathering of people normalizing motherhood, parenting, working moms... because that’s real life, and relatable!

I felt weird commenting on your pregnancy announcement video but after watching you speak about it again in this video, I need to tell you, even if you never see this! I had my daughter almost three years ago now, and I absolutely bawled watching your video because, for the first time, someone perfectly encapsulated how I felt about finding out I was pregnant. It felt like you were in my head. I am still learning to mourn my old life, but therapy and time have made a huge difference. and I know you're going to be an amazing mom because you are already addressing those feelings that I buried rather than faced. Congratulations, Jenn! I'm so happy I found this channel.

Hi Jenn, I’m in my thirties, and I’m on the fence about whether I want babies. I felt guilty of my uncertainty, and I took it as a sign that I shouldn’t have kids - because like you said, almost every current/expectant mother I know seems at least outwardly excited and accepting. Seeing you express your fear and doubts and overcoming them through these videos is so helpful because it lets me know it’s okay to feel these feelings. Your video is part of the reason why I’m feeling more optimistic and confident about my choices whatever they end up being, Jenn. So thank you.

I know it's very personal but I'm 18 and it happened to me four months ago, I can't talk about it, I won't, it shook me up a lot and me and my boyfriend kinda avoid the topic. especially me I guess. I'm now free of it but for all this time until a few weeks ago I've been very down and sunk quite deep in depression like I've never done before because of everything. I was not coming to my senses on what was happening to me and I still don't, I never felt like it was real. I don't even dare saying the words, just thinking about it makes me want to cry. Im very unsure of the future, I love my boyfriend and would like to have a family with him but I don't know the extend i would be able to emotionally bear. I'm scared I won't be a good mother, I'm scared everything will get out of my grip, of my control. but when you think about it, most people feel that way. society romanticise pregnancy a lot, but many women don't live it well for many reasons, it's just not shown because it's not pretty. it's very shaking emotionally, sometimes it's because you're not ready, sometimes it's because you're scared, sometimes it's because of the effect the change in hormones has on your mind, sometimes it's because of trauma, sometimes it's because you really just didn't want it to happen and sometimes it's all of the above. it's a big loss of control over yourself, your life and the life of others. it never was and never will be easy, it's not usually a simple decision to make, it's changing everything. even if you're ashamed of yourself when it shouldn't be, after all it's your choice and nobody should make it in your stead. being uncertain is a normal thing. be strong :)

I personally loved that your pregnancy announcement showcased both of you and Ben's visceral reactions. As someone who probably doesn't want kids, it was really enriching to see what a couple looks like as a team and that a mother doesn't have to be infallible and that she deserves a supportive partner. It made me realize that if I ever did make the decision to have kids, my reaction would probably be like yours and I would only want to make that decision if I was with someone extremely caring and supportive like Ben.

@@alessandrameows oh believe me when you tell people you don't want kids as a woman, it still creates an "uncomfortable", "awkward" atmosphere in 2021, and intentionally or unintentionally they try to change/influence your mind like it's unthinkable that a woman chooses not to have kids (shock horror clutching my pearls). Maybe it's a UK thing, but I'm just so fed up with people telling me "you'll change your mind later", "being a mother is a gift and you don't want to experience it?", "I felt the same but I got pregnant by accident and it's the best thing ever and I would've missed out on it if I hadn't" blah blah blah blah blah. I've heard it all and sadly other women are the worst offenders. Can't stand it. Sorry for the rant lol

I just want to say thank you for your pregnancy video because I feel the EXACT same way as you did about having kids. I felt like a terrible person because I know my husband would love to have kids and would make a wonderful father (he's always been so supportive of me!). I decided to pray about it and the very next day I saw your video and knowing that you felt the same and seeing how you dealt with your emotions have helped me more than you can know. You're not alone and I can see that you and Ben will be the best of parents!

i enjoy seeing how happy ben and jenn are, they are simply the perfect match. HOW CUTEEE

You know its actually believed that when you really open up about something, you are actually loosing some weight that you have been carrying around on your shoulders... so when you open up about it and talk about it and discuss it you feel light and free...

I agree 100% with the non-fiction books, that's how I've been reading them for years. Also thanks for the reminder that I need to meditate. I moved from South Africa to the U.K a few months ago and I did not have the composure that you have, but you're right once you start ticking off those logistical things it feels doable... doing it during a pandemic added so much more work. Sorting through your stuff is stressful, it helps you cut back. I also give everything to my mom to pass on to family and church.

Everytime I see you cry I'm like "aaaaawwww jenn!" I can't express how greatful I am for your content and I ALWAYS get SOMETHING significant from you whether its a new book, idea, or insight. I can't wait for your little one to come because I know they'll get a lot more and then some congrats! And thank you again!!

I actually cried for so long when I found out I was pregnant, so no you’re not the only one that felt that way. I would probably cry again if I got pregnant again lol.
