Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy - Full Playthrough, Ending (excl. reward), extra Snake Ride

Ойындар

NEW GAME INSPIRED BY GETTING OVER IT, CHECK OUT THAT FLIPPING MOUNTAIN: • That Flipping Mountain...
First full playthrough of Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy ever uploaded to KZread. GOIWBF is a challenging game by the QWOP creator, inspired by Sexy Hiking, the Game Maker classic in which you have to climb a mountain of obstacles equipped with a hammer only.
Please note that the focus of this video is on the documentation of the game's obstacles, challenges and design and authentic gameplay of a typical first playthrough. It's NOT a documentation of the player's skills. Some unneccessary lengths, countless failed attempts and terrible setbacks have been edited out. Some others and a lot of struggling are still in to show the special character of the game.

    Genuinely, this is the sign of a winner in life--someone who just won't quit and who keeps going, professing one step at a time, even if they stumble and fall down, until they eventually achieve some kind of greatness. This game, depending on how you play it, is basically an analogy for your attitude to life and the challenges and hardships it presents to you. So, kudos for making it to the end, dude! Much respect.

    Well-observed, great conclusion. Indeed I can rarely let a quest be unresolved, in games or in real life but I tend to be selective and only go for quest that do not lead to greatness ;)

    The creator was right, it gave you a true sense of accomplishment for completing something that actually required an adaptive nature, not just respective moves or gestures. I loved it. Took me only six whole days to beat. That was with the help of three friends as, we have lives... We can't be on for six days straight, we took breaks and free time we played progressing and messing up, it was fun. I loved it.

  • @ludophilia

    @ludophilia

    6 жыл бұрын

    My playthrough took less than 3 hours, yours took more than 5. There might be a correlation between slow and cautious and time to finish, don't you think so? And I didn't know the requirements. This was recorded on release day and it was the first playthrough uploaded to KZread. When recording I didn't know how far the end would be, I didn't know the best strategy for a specific obstacle, I didn't know if a tiny mistake would take me back to start or not, I didn't even know what action would be a mistake. And this uncertainity on the first playthrough for me is one of the special characteristics of the game, it's a major part of the experience and I'm happy that I didn't mess it up by watching a video before playing just to technically achieve it but not really gettting over it in the purest possible way.

    It was the first ever complete playthrough uploaded to YT, recorded on release day. First batch of dislikes came from people who wanted to see the secret after game reward but I've decided not to show it because the developer asked for that. Then it probably gets a lot of dislikes because it's very long and slow, but hey, in the moment uploaded it was the speedrun world recored ;)

    Dug up some info regarding the release of Getting Over It. It's planned to be released on Steam for 7.99 on 7th of December. Following the procedure described in the pinned comment above you can get Getting Over It DRM-free on 1st of December and probably a Steam key in addition, but also with Getting Over It you can get 40+ other games for only about 10 bucks in total. For more info check out the pinned comment above.

    This game is constantly trying to gain your attention by talking, and it wants you to pay attention to the voice you hear. So you can’t concentrate. Don’t get angry , because thats exactly, what it wants you to do. On the part where he starts talking about the games, he says they suck, and thats where you get angry and you can’t concentrated... Getting over it, is a hiking game and when you are hiking, (in real life) you have the fear of losing everything you have (meaning your life). As soon as you feel that your in an uncomfortable spot, you become paranoid of falling. You get distracted by people telling you things. Let me tell you a story, its a story about distraction. Every year these frogs have this race of who can get up this steep mountain... the kids never make it, heres why. When the frogs get close the people start screaming “YOU CAN’T DO IT!” Then the frogs look over and then... they fall. But one frog. Kept going even tho they were screaming. And he made it... because he was deaf... so dont listen to the voices on the game, and you will make it. *_Good Luck..._*

    oh, thanks :) It's the way it is because it was my first playthrough, recorded on release day, and also the first uploaded to KZread, so no other reference available. I had no idea what would be coming, how far it still would be to the end and I was totally afraid of making a mistake taking me back to start, without even knowing what exactly would be a mistake. That's why it's so slow. I guess many people think it's lame, resulting in dislikes.

    Yes, it's slow. But do you understand why? The first 3rd of the game isn't played that slow because you naturally play it more often and gain more practise. The last 3rd of the game was played completely blind, as this was recorded on release day and it was in fact the first full playthrough uploaded to KZread. It was done to illustrate what authentic normal gameplay of the game looks like, not a speedrun after 300 hours of practise. Playing slow and cautious has been proven as a valid strategy in order to finish the game. And then, of the 100 backseat gamers complayning about it not 1 has produced a faster playthrough. Just try it yourself, you can get the game along with ~50 other games in Humble Trove/Humble Monthly for just ~12 bucks: www.humblebundle.com/monthly/trove?partner=Ludophiles

    4:33 I love the cement analogy. I am a musician, and it describes an aspect of the song writing process perfectly (in my experience at least). When I work on songs, my brain moves faster than my skills enable me to recreate what I hear in my head. So I have to start putting some of what I hear down, to save it. And there it starts to get stuck. As I continue to record elements, and branch off with new inspiration that the creation of those elements triggers, more and more of a real song starts to take shape; but at the same time, more and more of the free-flowing creative nature of the original inspiration is lost. At a certain point, the desire to improve or change any given element dwindles almost to nonexistence. Not that there is no more inspiration, or room for change. The whole process is one of discovery and exploration; but there is a point, in many instances, where a particular idea, sound, or part in a project seems truly to be set in stone. A point after which the only options seem to be complete removal/destruction of the element, or leaving it in the song in its current state. I began working on music several years ago, and my overall production skills have drastically improved. My personal sound has also evolved, and though I can still hear "myself" in my previous works, the tracks I create now have changed quite a bit. However, I am still working on ideas that were started in the early stages of my development. Going back and finishing these songs is another area where the cement analogy rings true. Depending on the project, many of my older songs have been developed to a significant extent. Not finished, but recorded, and given the beginnings of tone and structure. In going back and attempting to complete them, with my time-honed skills and evolved style, I am faced with an interesting dilemma: had I been inspired with this song later in my growth as a musician, how different would it sound? Should I get rid of elements that the current "me" could do "better"? Or should I leave them in to preserve the integrity of the original idea? Regardless of what side I come down on in a given scenario, the choice always seems to be between two extremes. Break apart and start over, or let be and continue from what I have. For whatever reason, a compromise seems either impossible or extremely uncomfortable. That being said, I was very intrigued, and gratified, to hear this phenomenon explained by someone else as I was playing "Getting Over It". The analogy truly is a very good one, and it opened my eyes to the fact that other people, in other creative fields and with different creative processes, go through the same experience. I love this game :D TL;DR The cement analogy perfectly captured a phenomenon I often experience while making music, and made me realize that other people experience it as well, even in other fields of creativity.

    Felt like it took... forever... Achieving the practise to get to such heights certainly took 20+ hours. And then probably 20 more till I got a playthrough from start to finish without a worst case setback. Net time for that playthrough might have been 5-6 hours. But I had to take a lot of extended breaks and do something completly else for some time because it was just too exciting, the closer I got to the end the worse it got :). But I'm certainly not a good measure, I'm a rather slow player in general, with a bad mouse on an inappropriate surface. The developer Bennett Foddy said he completed a playthrough in 5.5 hours, some people are a lot faster, a few finish in just a couple of hours incl. all the time to practise.
