Getting My Shovelhead Ready For A Weekend Getaway

Having a maintenance routine before hitting the road is never a bad idea when you ride a rattly old Harley! Mine mostly consists of making sure all the nuts and bolts are nice and tight, tire pressure, whatever needs grease or oil has got it. And (since I’m riding an old shovelhead) some solid hopes and prayers that I’ll get where I’m going without any issues haha. 🤞 🙏
And, anyone who want's to send me pictures of their bikes, you can email me at:
redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
PLEASE SEND LARGE CLEAR PHOTOS!
1080p x 1080p is the MINIMUM we can work with, so please do your best at making sure your photos are large and not blurry 🙂 And send more than one if you can as well!
Only motorcycle related emails please - sorry, but I just don't have the time to engage in personal conversations.
Thank you for your understanding.
If you DON'T want your bike highlighted in a future video showing viewers bikes then make sure to mention it in your email. Other than that, expect to see your bike in one of my videos!
If you would like my PO BOX address you can find it in the description to my channel by following this link:

How funny that you say, you feel old at the age of 31 I was hitchhiking all over the United States, sleeping in parks, showering at truckstops, standing in line for food handouts from the Salvation Army. I was strong as a horse my mom died when I was 32 and that happened to be when you were born and that changed the direction of my life I became a nurse got married to a young lady had four kids and now they’re all grown and I’m a 63-year-old man now that’s old and it feels old every guy that watches your channel that’s old like me is gonna tell you you’re not old and believe me when you get to be my age it’ll be very clear and evident that you were actually closer to your 20s than you are your 40s and most of us old guys would give anything to go back to 31 it’s been a lifetime since I was in my 30s. It actually feels like it was another lifetime. Enjoy the video. Good job.

Happy times working in the garage on that gorgeous Shovel! It is a fun a relaxing time for the most part. I do agree with needing more that your own hands. I do cuss just a little when I try to do things without another pair of hands to help. But, sometimes you just gotta make do by yourself. Good ol' Loki. Such a smart bird. Makes me wanna try and befriend the crows that come to my back yard, looking for scraps. I also have complete confidence in your wrenching skills, so it will be smooth sailing on your trip! Plus I'll say a prayer for you to have safe travels. Enjoy those beautiful motorcycles! Great video! Ride and stay safe up in your beautiful B.C.!

I have to tear into my Indian as the last trip netted me a broken rear shock, rattling in the fairing, and a squealing drive belt, AGAIN. It has already become a tradition for me to have breakfast with your new videos. I remember how we often used spark plugs from cars on our old motorcycles, just adding another ring to the spark plug so that the valve wouldn't hit them. But the spark plugs produced during the USSR were valued, they were the most reliable, all that was needed was to wipe with an old rag, clean a little with sandpaper, wait for my mother to leave the kitchen so that I could run into the kitchen and hold the candles over the gas stove and quickly escape from the kitchen. And the fact that the smell was then there for half a day, so it's not my fault 😂

When my plugs are that bad my bike won't even start but shite does it do some backfires. My valve guide seals on the evo have perished smokes a bit when you throttle off. My plugs look like that after a couple of tanks of gas. Theres a trick to those shovel guides that let's you run tighter tolerances with out sticking in the guide. Other wise its basically massive clearance and burn oil. Did you know the shovel spark plugs are the same used on old mowers that run the Briggs and Stratton engines lol had to borrow one or two in the past.

@@RedRiderCanadaBC that looks like oil to me didn't know you had twin plug heads. The trick is spiral grove the valve stem run tighter tolerances carbon builds up in the grove and stops it from nipping up the pain of shovels valve guide clearance.

I have a 1989 FXR similar in style to your Dyna. Mine has 8 inch risers with drag bars and the tank mounted dash. Tank is black with metal flake ghost flames that only show in the sunlight.

This was a FUNNY way to start the video! Hahahahaha! By the way, that bird of yours is very good; he's just trying to create a little occasonal michief. And with the footage/mileage he's provided to you (and to us!), it could be good idea to cut him a little slack!
