Cody, if you put your magnet into a resealable sandwich bag or any other plastic bag (as thick as you can find), you will be able to really easily clean those pieces of black sand/magnetite off of the magnet without having a bunch of those pesky, tiny, impossible to remove pieces of sand/iron, by simply removing the bag. You could also cover the magnet with a sheet of card, and it'll do the same thing.
@DanielWillems1995

2 plastic cups nestled in one another would work too. Super easy. Pull the inner one containing/holding the magnet the other cup the material would just fall away as magnet is withdrawn

As soon as it said 2018 and someone was clearly filming him I thought it would be Kanyon. And then he said her name. A bit bittersweet, I'm sure this wasn't easy to relive to edit. But I'm glad it's out there and it's great content as always. Cody is such a genuine person, and it hurts me that he's gone through so much hardship the past few years. "Old" footage or not I always enjoy your videos, people like you make the world a better and brighter place just by being you, plus you teach people things they may not know while also learning more along the way and I always appreciate how you show even the "failed" experiments. It's really cool that you found other "treasures" aside from the bits of gold, I liked seeing the old bullets and especially the coins because I collect coins, I'm not a "professional" collector by any means but I've been collecting for over 20 years and I've found some gems along the way. Hey I don't know if this is wanted, I'm 22 and I really really get how painful this might've been to upload. You're such a great teacher and your videos have had a huge impact on my life. Please see these past years as a gift and not something to miss. We all love you and your teachings so much. ❤️
Man's still torn up about Kanyon. Love you cody, you a good dude.
I live about 15 minutes from right where you are - why am I sitting here watching you when I should be out there digging for Gold.?.

Because you will make more money at minimum wage with much easier work. Each pan does feel like a slot machine at a casino though.

Growing up 1/2 mile from the river I was always told it still had billions in gold in it. It is kind of insane you were able to just pick a random spot and get as much as you did.

That was not a random spot, he mentioned several times he had scouted the river and studied the lay of the land to find the best spot. Pretty much the exact opposite of a random spot.

I grew up there as well and never heard it had billions worth of gold in it, but there for sure are still large nuggets around that people stumble upon.
Old is old glad we see your videos, happy life for you
Long time coming! Thanks for the video Cody!
Just happy that Cody is still being strong after his big break up years ago
The gold is awesome, but holy shit can we talk about the amount of Iron you got from the river? That's now a small thing to overlook, especially in a survivalist context. You should harvest iron from the river and make a frying pan or knife or something.

Check out Primitive Technology's latest video where he does just that!

@@MerchantMarineGuy I think they're talking about both the magnetic and non-magnetic black sand

Yeah, I was talking about the stuff he picked up from the magnet, not the lead. Also, I saw the primitive technology video. I thought a more modern version from Cody would be good, using the magnet to fish out what I assume is magnetic metals. Kind of like a "Society collapsed, here is a quick way for one person to make metal tools/utensils to survive." kind of deal. Primitive Technology went hardcore, but I am curious what a modern person with some simple things like that magnet can yield in comparison.

@Nezz - yes, but why not work half as much by mining gold and make enough to buy 2 frying pans.
It's gratifying work to see the results play out like you expect them to, and can show physical proof in the end... having the gold and other heavy metals shake out to the locations you expect is a nice touch!
So awesome, really interesting to see the time difference and taking a look back.
Curios of the legality of this.. I know it is since cody is doing it but moreso how. 29:12 little funny non cut there of a retake.
Must of found an old memory card he lost with all this great footage on it lol
He's about 200 feet on the east side of Sunrise Bridge. A reason there may be so much broken glass is that it is just a bit downstream from the old iron bridge that served from 1910 to 1960.
Enjoyed seeing this. I remember this trip when you guys first posted it. Keep your head up. Hope all is well.
