Was going to ask what the foam board is for but I presume it’s an insulation to keep the floor heating more effective. Never actually seen floor heating before, some people here have it but it’s not common, we don’t get cold enough to warrant it. I presume it’s an effective and economical type of heating. I can see how once the concrete warms up it would radiate heat for an extended time, unlike heating the air which dissipates very quickly.

Yes mate there's a lot doing it over here now .it's grate in the winter when you got your feet on it feels really strange. especially when you have tiles and it's warm.only problem it there no radiators to dry your clothes on lol👍

@@markhepset a clothes rack on the tiles and hang your clothes there. They'll dry much better than on radiators . I installed ufh on ground floor by myself and it's so much getter and more economical than radiators .

Nice explanation and nice work. One question .... the sanitary hot/cold and the foul water piping ... in which layer are they run ? through the hardcore ? Are the clean and foul pipes separated by some conventional spacing or smtg ?

Hi mate .they got brought up through the hardcore .the foul water and the clean water were pretty close together think I gave it about 100mm apart . inspector never said anything about it when he came .👍👍

Does the visqueen need to be tied into the wall under the dpc before the walls go up? Or can you lay the visqueen after the water and tape it along the walls

  • @markhep

You can definitely lay the visqueen after mate and just put it up wall I nail it higher than the finished wall holds it up a bit 👍

can I put top membrane over the pipes and not directly over insulation boards?

Really you want it underneath.dont know if you put it on top it will probably cause the concrete not to warm up a much as it should.you set the pipes in concrete so the pipes are warming the concrete up .I mean you could do it but I don't know weather this would make the heating less efficient.if you know what I mean

Did you not pour concrete for subfloor?
