Getting Buff With Yelp’s Worst Rated Trainer | One Star Reviews

Ойын-сауық

On the latest One Star Reviews, VICE's Taji Ameen is again on the mission to get to the bottom of some bad online reviews -- this time while getting his body into shape since he is in Miami after all. In order to complete this mission he enlists the services of a local lowly rated personal trainer at Monster Cast Fitness named Gabriel and is quickly sent off on a rollercoaster of physical endurance. Stay tuned to see Taji battle his monster while Gabriel attempts to battle his reviews.

@@kingpin20042003 that is not how it works. You can't force people to make a change. The person has to want it. A trainer or coach can strengthen your motivation for change by eliciting and exploring your own reasons to change. However, they cannot make this decision for you. Once you have decided, they can then teach you the skills/provide the resources for you to achieve your goal. There's a lot of trial and error.

I totally agree. When I first started working in this industry, I tried my best to motivate and push every one of my clients like an athlete but most really didn't want that. One even stormed out of the session after shouting at me saying that she doesn't want to be push. That's when I realised most that pays for a personal trainer usually just wants to feel good about themselves and feels like they are making progress and most importantly, they just wanted someone there for them. 3 years into working in this industry, I know which button to push now. The ones that stay the longest with you are usually the ones that just wants to feel good about themselves. The extremely motivated ones usually leave within 3 months after learning "everything" from you

My trainer tries to murder me with every session we have. He's super strict on my diet and pushes me to the point that I usually want to either cry or vomit. He's the only trainer I've had, so I don't really have anything else to compare to, but I could see why people would quit his sessions very quickly. As you say, a lot of people want to get in shape without changing their lifestyle in any meaningful way. Hahaha...I wish that were the case.

I love his analogy for the self sabotager we all have inside of us. When I used to train really hard for cross country I remember my coaches always saying that little voice in your head is going to tell your body the whole time during the workout “stop, just stop running,” but you can’t listen to it. He seems like a great trainer hopefully this helps his business in putting his image in a new light.

On the real, this dude's explanation of his monster being portrayed as a ghost to symbolize his late grandfather and the role he played in his family's life is exceedingly deep. Imagine a young man starting a business and thinking about what his parents understood to be an overbearing intrusion on their life, while concluding that they were wrong and that same monster was actually someone trying to point them in the right direction. Then sketching out some artwork to the best of his ability and sticking with it, making it the basis for his company mission. We could all learn something from this.

Honestly if I lived in Miami I would train with him… dude seems chill as hell, and he’s right people don’t want to work for nothing… they see greatness and thinks it just “happens”… they look at the end result of things and then get discouraged with the process… one must fall in love with the process in order to find yourself in the result. And I love his way of talking about “internal demons” as it is something that plagues everyone even in the simplest of choices…. I love what Jordan Peterson says… “become a beast and then learn how to tame it”… it is just simply know your potential and then discipline yourself to get it… This dude is amazing, and I hope he prospers.

It’s really sad that there are people out there that get their kicks from ruining someone’s business, life, career, passion, or anything important to that person. Folks will do that to both people they know and don’t know and will do it even if there is no good reason for it, I’ve found that it’s often jealousy but I’m noticing a trend lately where people often times don’t see others as actual people with dreams, goals, emotions, or feelings. Many assholes out there can’t even consider anything beyond themselves and will ruin something for someone just for fun, it’s a fucked up world we live in.😔

He seems like such a nice dude and having a positive mentality like that after so many negative reviews is impressive. I would've totally understood if he got super defensive as soon as the reviews were mentioned, but he didn't. Hope his business runs well
