If you need a taxi from a resort and the taxi line is ridiculous, find out where the taxis are dropping off the previous customers and jump in when they get out. They won't kick you out. The taxi doesn't have to go to the back of the line and wait 20 minutes for a fare. Win/Win

When I went to Las Vegas a few years ago, I used the tram and walked most of the time. I am going again in a few days and like you said walking is a great way to not feel as guilty eating what the doctor tells me to avoid. But it's vacation time!

In bygone days I always rented a car. With Covid, rental prices went sky-high, so Uber worked for getting to off-strip restaurants. However, the round trip was usually more expensive than the meal. I did rent a car on my last trip when I found a price less than $40/day (I have free parking at my hotel), but for my next trip I see prices have increased once again.

The comfortable shoes are an absolute must! In my times going to Vegas, i’ve driven there three times, flown several more. I usually use the shuttle service. The low price is worth having to make a handful of stops to get to my hotel. The one time i went by taxi was before the fixed rates snd i didn’t know enough to ask for the direct route. One time, i even walked from the airport to my hotel. Luckily, it was the MGM Grand. During my stays, i mostly walked; especially starting out. I just love the sightseeing. Depending on how far i’d go, i might take the bus back (it wasn’t the Deuce yet, just normal CAT) wasn’t worth the wait for a taxi save one time i went with a group.

Yowza, I didn't know that anyone would walk from the airport to MGM, but I guess it is pretty close. We haven't done the bus just yet, but do use the monorail and trams often. Thanks for watching and sharing!

What would be the best way to get to luxor from the California hotel on a Saturday night?

Luxor is close to the highway, ride share would be the least expensive and most direct. The Cal is close to the highway too. Thanks for watching and the great question!

Are you sorta hoping this f1 thing is a flop just because of how much chaos it has caused? I remember seeing that the strip portion was supposed to be completed in May lol. Thats not taking into account the ridiculous prices of the event and rooms and threating to block views from public sidewalks. I feel like the city and its residents have been scammed unfortunately.

  • @mmasque2052

This year will be the worst for F1 construction and preparations because everything needed to be done. The repaving should be good for at least the next six years. And construction of the paddock and stands along that part the course will be permanent structures. The grandstands along the Strip, along with the lighting, are temporary structures. This year, most of the effort was in placing foundations for the stands. After this, they may be put up and taken down as quickly as similar structures for the Monaco Grand Prix; go up about two weeks before the race. Same for the temporary traffic bridges. As for prices. That will depend on attendance. If it sells out, the prices won’t change. If there’s a lot if empty seats, the prices will drop to entice ticket sales.

@@mmasque2052 Who said this? F1? I doubt the residents believe anything that they say at this point. In other cities they aren't trying to shoehorn a racetrack into one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. Most people would have trouble finding Monaco on a map much less tell you where the F1 track was located. Of course, the build up and take down will be much easier in those places. It's not selling out now which is why price for the rooms and the race have gone to something more reasonable from the absurd price point in which they started. The prices will continue to drop until they sell out so they can advertise it as "sold out".

Umm, not really. I think that it was very poorly managed and the city chose money over residents. On the other side, this monstrosity did create a lot of jobs, some of them permanent because of this being an annual event. I hope that they learned from this first one and consider the impact on locals.
