Getting animals at the swap meet

Along with getting things ready for the rabbit barn, we are going to the swap meet. You never know what kind of animals you might bring home. #swapmeet

Few notes on the rabbits : 1 don't scruf them for picking up, you can cause pain and damage to the soft tissues there. Grab them just before the hips on the lower back where there is a narrow part between the last ribs and the connection of the pelvis to the spine. You then have a not wriggly rabbit, they tend to just hang quietly and can't hurt you or themselves. 2. Keep in mind that breeding broken to broken (i.e. the spotted coats) gives 25% chance of so called charlies i.e. broken gene from both parents and that often goes hand in hand with megacolon (progressive and deadly).

Very true plus you should not have rabbits on wire mesh floors, otherwise they will get bumblefoot which is a very painful disabling medical condition. You are not upholding the 5 freedoms of the animal welfare act 2006 for these reasons stated above and rabbits need something to exhibit natural behaviour like chewing or burrowing. Did you know that a rabbits teeth will constantly grow until they go through their bottom jaw without anything to chew and gnaw their teeth down on.

@@ravenfall7029have never once had a case of bumblefoot in all my years. We do occasionally give them a piece of branch for there teeth. We also have rabbit tractors that we rotate them out

I apologise for my critique. It was a bit hard. I understand their enthusiasm! It's just that I felt sorry for the small birds being grabbed like that without anyone being asked.

I understand about the birds. It aggravates me too. Parents need to teach their kids to ask first.
