Hi, Scott i left my high paying it job to do something else but after trying it for year and a half i had to shut it down , now i am looking for entry into tech again but am finding it really difficult and a lot more anxious seeing the current job market. Saw your videos and particularly this video i would try contributing to large codebases and learn about few new technologies. ... Any suggestion from your side would be a great help for me. :) Peace.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Its hard to give you super accurate advice not knowing your situation and what you have done. Go to my bio and join my Skool community so we can dig in. But... Here are some things that can help. 1. Pick a niche. Frontend or backend. For non CS people i recommend frontend. 2. Find a large code base to contribute to. Like Gitlab so you can contribute to the frontend and have something to show for it. Gitlab is a household name in engineering and carries some weight. 3. Cold out reach to companies and start making connections.

How's that contribution going to convert into something solid which he can put on his resume? and what about applications?

Good question. You can put your open source contributions on your resume like a job (obviously be honest its open source). Personal projects hold less than no weight unless you solved a very complex problem or got users to use it. Even then its a red flag because you didnt have to work with anyone else. What can i answer about applications?
