We’re Kasey & Andrea. A Minnesotan and Salvadorian husband and wife living and loving life in Minnesota, USA. We live an adaptive lifestyle that allows us to be active, independent, and live life to the fullest.
We’ve been together a total of 10 years and going into our 4th year of marriage. Through all of these years together (and with Kasey’s 30 years of living with Spina Bifida) we have learned A LOT about adaptive equipment and products, and multiple ways on how to modify things around our homes and lives.
We have traveled to different parts of North and Latin America so far and planning to adventure a lot more in the near future.
We created this blog to share with others our personal experience with living an active and independent adapted life. We’ll be sharing adaptive product and equipment reviews of what we have used in the past; posts of some of the most fun places we’ve been able to visit during our travels. Last but not least, we’ll also share content regarding Kasey’s weight loss journey and adaptive fitness and exercise ideas.
We’re extremely excited to be able to reach out AND also learn from others who are living an adaptive life to the fullest!
Here’s to some amazing Adapted Adventures!

    good video, there isn't a whole lot of info, and your doctor doesn't always tell you, you have choices in chairs, while I was approved for a power chair and a manual, not at the same time, I wish I knew I had choices, so yes, this is informative.

    I have been using a Power Chair since 2012, and my Muscles have gotten much weaker, since I obviously don't push myself. I just got a new Power Chair. However, I tried to be switched to a Manual, but the Medical Rehab place said that Medicare won't pay for one, unless I can prove that I am able to push in it. I can't. Now, my question to them was, How can I ever get my strength back, if I can't be approved, for a Manual. They said that I have to go through Physical Therapy to get stronger, and once the Therapist approves it, then I can get one. So, instead of waiting, I'm just going to save up for my own!

    The only reason I encourage others to save and buy their own if they have money socked away ...is because if the insurance is a stickler for making you wait 5 years...and the chair is too wide and will hurt your shoulders, or cause shoulder injuries; or if you need a more rigid contoured back to keep your spine from curving; or a new cushion because let's say you have a foam one and you get a pressure sore, they'll make you sit and suffer rather than prevent issues. I said the heck with that and just bought my own manual chair, the deep contour Jay 3 back, power assist wheels, a contour cradle head rest and a Nexus Spirit ROHO cushion. My neck is a mess...I couldn't get them to buy one and they are less than $200.00. It's all about money today. This year will be 5 years...but at least I don't have to play their games...or wait 30 days to see if they will pay for this or pay for that.

    I really hope you have better luck with Numotion than I did, after you get your chair you need to make sure all the bolts and nuts are tightened down and that they didn't leave anything out. As they did with my chair, it was missing bolts on delivery. Then trying to get them to honor the warranty was a joke. If you haven't noticed they delete all negative comments from there reviews...

    The chair I got 2&half yrs ago. It's a Ti lite. I want my Quicky back. I've had more trouble with this chair then all my Quicky's in the past 24yrs. And I still have 2&half yrs to deal with this chair. Its irritating. But I will take it 1 day at a time til then.

    I know exactly what you mean! I just got a new Power Chair, and I hate this one! I believe the Insurance Company's down-grade their equipment, because they don't want to spend any money, but who is using the Chair? Them, or us!

    Did you get your new chair yet? Hope so! Would love an update. I'll be getting mine by the end of this month (fingers crossed) and it's a manual folded *red* Tilite with solid removable back, molded seat cushion and a smart drive I qualified for. (Chair all customized for myself. Paraplegic). I've been through all that process you've talked about several times with getting a new chair. This time around has been the biggest pain of emotions of 17 months while the other times just took a few to several months for the whole process.

    what size are your front casters i used to have skinnier ones someting closer to a rollerblade wheel and those shook a lot, but i have a wider caster now

  • @SnowySpiritRuby

    @SnowySpiritRuby

    For the chairs I've had, the casters started wobbling when the bolts got loose (the chair I have right now is currently dealing with it in one caster, and it drives me nuts because although I have the ability to fix it myself, I don't have the right tools to do so). I've also heard that it can also happen if the casters aren't lined up right, or the caster bearings need to be replaced, or if there's debris stuck around the caster axle (I haven't experienced any of these three, but I've heard they are things that can cause caster wobble).

    I don't get it...you can lease a car every year...why does a chair have to be every 5 years? You know what gets me the most...people you meet with are ALL WALKING and don't have to sit in the chair day i and day out. It's like referring stuff in a different language than you speak. Bottom line...the control freaks don't truly know what we need. By the way, are you in the states? It makes a difference.
