Gettin' Chigee Wit' It - The New AIO 5 Play CarPlay/Android Auto Thing Is FANTASTIC for scooters!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Yes yes, a product review... But this really is a great product. (STAY TO THE VERY END, IT'S WORTH IT!!!!) The Chigee AIO-5 Play is a scaled down (and less expensive) version of the more complete AIO-5 Lite, but it's all you need to turn your Vespa into a technological marvel. I just finished 400 miles over two days on my motorcycle, in 90-degree heat, and this thing worked perfectly.
Chigee is offering it at a discount right now.

Thank you bug! I know I've been missing something on my scooter for years. This is EXACTLY what I have needed. Awesome review, thank you for sharing! I'll be buying a whisk for my glovebox right away!

The whisk was probably for the pancake mix he keeps forgetting to buy.

I've always resisted navigation and sounds playing in my ears while I ride. When I was six minutes and 43 seconds into the video my resistance was fully restored. I guess this dog is just too old to learn new tricks. I'll look at a map before I ride and then rely on my memory to guide me. And if I get lost, all the better. Adventure lives in the unknown. "It's Bug!" A theme song. You have hit the big time. I fully expect to see you showing up at Jay Leno's Garage, or riding the Pacific Coast Highway with Keanu Reeves. I'll be the guy at the side of the road staring at the sign trying to figure out which way to go...

I have to admit that listening to music when I ride sometimes is one of my vices. On a long motorcycle ride, I find it's the thing that really actually keeps me in my head and thinking positive. It's a habit I should probably try to break, but for now it really works for me...

@@scottthompson5716 Same here, Scott. I watched a ton of stuff before I got my Vespa, but ScooterInTheSticks was what really sold me. I saw how much peace and joy it brought to his life...

I wanted one of these but could not figure out a way to mount the cameras cleanly to my Vespa so I abstained. Even though I’d like the cameras I think this version is a nice compromise and the lower price plus the discount I just had to snap one up. Think I’ll pick up the one with cameras to install on my 50cc scoot so I can watch back in laughter as everyone and their grandmother zooms past me.

I’ll have to look at the Chigee thing. Right now I have a garmin GPS and a separate TPMS product. I have a SuperTech but the process of getting the app and the phone connected to my Vespa was…..very annoying. So I haven’t even used that MIA sh*t. So on the vibrations - you and I must have had the same guy assemble our scooters. My back brake squeals like yours and the vibrations at idle…. OMG who the hell designed this engine? It is INSANE. If they had upped the idle speed just a tad, it would have eliminated most of it. (Is it possible to get it adjusted? I don’t know - yet) The vibrations are worse if you are using the rear brake to hold the scooted still. So I always use the front brake while stopped. And riding in hot weather. I live in San Antonio, TX. It gets HOT here in the summer and is not the season to ride around here. I’ll be storing up the Scooter prob at the end of the month until Oct. I just rode in 96 degree heat. Umm No. Just No. I don’t want a heat stroke. And i was sweating, like you, in places I hadn’t before. And I don’t wear all that heavy stuff you do. Sorry for the long post. But you made a long video. :-) Anyway, thanks for the vid.

My video was too long by about 27 minutes. The thing about the vibrations, for me, is that it's random. Some days/rides it's smooth, other days/rides it's like a Harley. I just don't get it!

Insta360 made a vibration damper for their action cam. I have no idea if their thing can fit with DJI's cameras, but it looks like it just uses a 1/4" screw so I imagine you can mount whatever you want within reason. It's aptly called the "Vibration Damper". Maybe it'll be useful for you. And I might as well be the guy that says that they noticed the eggbeater in the front storage.

So you got into those weird industrial/residential/Deliverance areas off 33rd. Don't know what that Drainage District thing is but I know there's a "Bimbo" near there.

I like the idea of these things particularly with the TPS, but my issues is this. If I am just using my cell phone, I have to bring that with me when I park the bike anyway. Now, if I get this, now have to remember to take this off the bike and lock it up or someone is going to steal it.

  • @bugscooters

    @bugscooters

    Ай бұрын

Yeah, it's an issue but it does come with 'locking' bolts. Sure, someone could just rip the damned thing off probably. But if you install it in a way that makes it look like it's part of the bike, that might mitigate it. I would like to see Chigee make a cradle for this that makes it easy to take off, and to swap on to other bikes.

The Adderall kicked in lol Usually the reason any type of motorcycle might vibrate will have to do with how balanced the engine is. Basically the engine cylinder is flying around at high speed and is not counterweighted in the opposite direction of the piston position, or at least that is how I understand it to work. It could also be that the hamster is tired. lol There is nothing you can do about it if that configuration of engine is not the balanced variety except buy a far more expensive bike.

$822.99 Canadian for the jiggy Chigee. No thanks. I can get another off brand Apple CarPlay screen from Mr. Bezos for $65…..that’s more my style. I have one on my atv and it’s awesome.

I’m guessing that’s for the Lite version and not the Play version that Bug reviewed here. The one reviewed would be more like $547 CAD before any discounts, if available.
