I have my first of these & had no idea they would take a winter nap. Thanks so much for this vid! I'd have been sad thinking it died if this happens. It's growing a ton now, I love it. Love your content, thanks for all the great info. 💚

Perfect video! I kinda knew they went dormant....but I did not know I can help by repotting! So I have been paying attention to mine with one leaf.. trying to help it somehow..so I am going to try the repot for sure and that is so exciting! Wow yours did well! So excited to try this...thanks so much! I have a purple and two mini pots that I don't take care of a green and another type so I will give them a fresh start too....At our local store last year there was a green with a dark maroon on the leaves type...and I passed it up and still regret that I did not purchase it....since I have never seen it since...ok happy repotting!

It definitely helps to freshen them up by repotting. I found mine didn't produce many new leaves last summer so I decided to force it into dormancy. Glad I did! It's also good to see how much your plant's bulbs have multiplied since the last time you did it.

You dont actually need to repot it. Just let it sit dry and dark in the winter. Slowly introduce it in light in spring. meanwhile only water once very lightly and it will come back slowly to life with the amount of light its getting.

I love your videos! How can I force dormancy if I don’t have a place in my home that is cool? Outdoors is not an option. If I lower the temperature to the recommended dormancy temperature, I will go dormant myself!

thank you SO MUCH for this! i was extremely worried that i was killing my husband's 2-year-old oxalis triangularis. we live in colombia (south america, not canada) so there's not really a season change, but it's been unusually cold and overcast for a few months now. the plant was becoming leggy and crispy and a lot of new growth was dying. i was worried i killed it by moving it away from the window, thinking it was because of being sunburnt. all the signs point to dormancy, though, and this video gives me hope! :D (i came here from your newest video, A Tour of My Best and Worst Houseplants) for places without seasons, would it be best to "force" it into dormancy once a year, or let it decide if it wants to go nigh-nights?

Thank you. Glad it was helpful. Yes it’s a good idea to force dormancy. Keep it somewhere cool and dark and don’t water for a couple of months

I planted these in my garden last year, covered with mulch over winter. Now that it's spring, I checked underneath the mulch & see thin transparent hair-like antenna popping through the soil but nothing else. I check weekly but no change. It's been a month. Why isn't it growing? Help!

@SheffieldMadePlants I think they are coming back they're just taking a very long time. I don't know if there is something that I can do to help nurture them to come back strong. Whatever is there is alive. It's just very small and fragile looking. And it's very low in the soil. Do they normally take this long to come back?
