Im in MD , my work is paying for my school but i think its around $2300 a year. The class is by IEC and it is for a total of 4 years 6 months on 6 off 2 days a week one day in class one day online. But after the 4 years u don't have to take any test u automatically get your journeyman's . All test are open book and in class. All the questions on the test is in the book and in order lol. kinda silly but hey i'd rather it be easy than a nightmare. It's hard working 12 hour days then going to school saying I go in at 4am get home by 4pm got school at 530-930pm, so basically your whole day is gone but U don't have to take that Test when ur done. Me personally I would not want to pay out of my pocket just because its alot of money, but if your job offers it I would highly recommend it. Its defiantly worth it in the long run

Stupid question- I run a small business primarily doing tv mounting and other supporting audio video. I’ve had a buddy who’s a licensed electrician relocate my outlets for me on jobs that require it but I’d love to be able to keep that money and do it myself. Is there training or ways I can be able to do that service without taking full fledge electrical courses and getting any necessary certifications/licenses. I’d obviously be working on electric in customers home to relocate the outlets so assume I’m smart I’m not touching it. If I can’t touch it, can I just get the study materials and take the tests and if I pass get license to perform that work or do I have to do some sort of schooling as well? I’ve literally pondered this for over a year and never asked anyways but really hoping people with electrical help can give me advice. I’d love to be able to run my Own outlets up the wall to provide a tv mounting service with no wires showing and not have to sub contract that portion out. I live in ky, and perform work in ky/oh/in tristate which a lot of licenses and stuff transfer to other states in case any of that matters!

Taddy, random electrical question... Should liquid tight be covering the control cable all the way from the outdoor unit to each head or just terminated once the control wire is inside line hide? I have seen so many "professional" installs without anything protecting the control wire from physical damage, which I'm pretty sure not "up to code"

Hello Tad, I do have a few questions if possible. have failed the TN LLE test already, but doing it I've learned that their questions that cover parts of the electrical field I have never and will probably never work in. I've focused more in the residential and light commercial and not Industrial. Do you have any suggestions to help pass the test. That you for your encouragement through your videos that you have provided for the up and coming small electrical businesses. Thank You Bobby E. TN

I'm confused. Do you need the LLE to be a certified journeyman in Tennessee? I'm from Ohio where we don't require a license but Kentucky and West Virgibia do but they reciprocate. So do you need this license to work at a jw level in Tennessee? Thanks

That phone number doesn't work anymore for TN contractors. WA doesn't have a reciprocal agreement with any other state. I'm an electrical administrator and journeyman Limited Energy electrician. In WA there are 7 levels of sparky. 01 = Commercial, 01 Administrator needed, 02 = Resi, 03 pumps/wells, 06 is HVAC & 06 Administrator, 07 Tellecomm. Do you know about guys with 30 years moving into TN? An 06 HVAC Admin is not limited to phase or voltage, only limited to HVAC & not allowed to run thermostat wire over 3 stories. Along with some other stupid restrictions like, no races over 10' or pull boxes at both ends!
