Get your body to heal itself | Anthony Galea | TEDxIUM

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Using the basic principles in regenerative medicine , scaffolds, stem cells and growth factors, in this TEDxIUM talk, Dr Galea shows how our bodies can be used to produce its own medication in healing common sport medicine related injuries.
Dr. Anthony Galea is a renowned sports medicine doctor. He is the Founder and Medical Director of the Institute of Sports Medicine Health & Wellness Center, an internationally recognized sports medicine clinic in Toronto. He has lectured at the University of Toronto and internationally. Dr. Galea has been a sports medicine doctor at the Olympics, team physician for the Toronto Argonauts and a sports medicine doctor and consultant for numerous high profile athletes such as Tie Domi, Jamal Lewis, Alex Rodriguez and Tiger Woods. He is listed as being among the top 2% of sports physicians in the world.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I think the Speaker had suffered from a stammer when he was younger. He has learned to speak fluently through a system I think is known as "Syllabic speech". Not only is this man a fine Doctor, he has overcome a serious speech problem that is both physically and psychologically challenging. Those who have little understanding or compasion are the ones who mindlessly denigrate him.

Unbelievable that Everyone is so focus on his voice that real message was missed out so sad. Dr. Anthony Galea he’s a genius and that’s why they didn’t want him to let us know that we can heal our self. Amazing Bravo may God keep blessing his work. People let’s bypass everyone imperfection, and let’s focus in the compassion, respect love and understanding to know the good, and the bad without any judgment. Impressive research and a mine of gold for those who gets his treatment.

It is not a problem to him and that is what matters. He clearly has a challenge and this has probably given him a lot of strength in life. I'm much more interested in his passion than his voice. I'm sure he likes to live in reality and is not scared to share his voice challenge when asked. I too have a challenge and I prefer to share and create awareness rather than live in denial with the help of others.

People who are pioneers in their respective fields are OFTEN in trouble with the regulators of the status quo. More power to this gentleman as a visionary in "alternative" medicine. I remember having a torn rotator cuff five years ago, and not being able to get help with it. It was excruciatingly painful, caused me months in limited mobility and has left me in permanent fear of being hurt like that again. I wish that I had had access to Dr. Galea's treatment.

Fascinating and insightful. Tore the tendon in my knee more than ten years ago while living in Hawaii. Local surfers referred me to treatment called Prollo-therapy for which sucrose is injected into the area. Can be done by MD, ND or even DC just requires short training. Found MD who came to my house and for $100 bucks did the injection. Knee healing very quickly afterwards and life going back to better than normal as the knee had bothered me for years prior to injury. We did one follow up treatment six months later. That was 2005, I am active and in great shape, I've no issue with the knee to this day.

Here in India since ages , a habit is still followed , people take the small portion of placenta of newly born babies , after drying it make a capsule of silver and put into it , tied the capsule in the babys hand with holy wire. If anytime baby fell ill seriously , they just put the silver capsule inside hot milk , gave the milk to baby , Stem cell therapy is followed here since ages. Doctor telling similar thing , Congrats Doctor for your new research and treatment.

When it comes to treating someone, it always start with compatibility. Like for example with the medication that we take, we are being ask if we have allergy to any form of medicine or food that may cause allergic reaction to our body. Same thing with organ transplant, we make sure the the donor and recipient have compatibility in everything that runs inside their body and this is to avoid rejection of the transplanted organ. It was clearly articulated in this video that the best way to repair or heal our body is through utilizing its own components such as its own cell, blood and fats and bone marrow and the likes.
