For those wondering, She is probably an Olympic swimmer that does synchronized swimming, also called water ballet. They all have to keep their hair secure in this way so it looks nice from afar but also doesn’t get in the way of their performances with their group of fellow dancers.

You have to get in the shower/bath tub to remove it properly. No one wants to see that. But if you want to know, it's a lot of scrubbing. And then you get out of the water and as your hair dries you realize you missed a few spots (bc the gelatin is clear and squishy sometimes you can't tell you didn't remove all of it until it dries in your dry hair and then it just looks like super bad dandruff)

It's not about a 'swim cap'... It's a 'hair do', that synchronized swimmers all have to wear, so that the team matches. The gelatin keeps it perfectly in place for the duration...

@@Col-dv5lg if the gelatin is softened BEFORE removal, it's not harmful. Gelatin is a protein derived collagen, similar to keratin (hair), being a protein based. It's how it's handled that matters. Like any 'styling product', it's conscientious removal is most important. As far as why they do it... It used to be that synchronized swimmers used caps in the 50's, etc, but over time, they grew out of fashion.

As someone who did synchronized swimming competitions as a kid and had to wear custom ordered swimsuits, hair pieces, and water proof makeup, the first thing I did when I got home/to the hotel was jump in the shower. It is SO much easier to get this stuff out when the gelatine is soft. For days afterwords I would be picking dried Knox from my scalp 😅

Use pineapple or kiwi juice. They both have enzymes that break down proteins, like the collagen in the gelatine. You might have to let it soak for a while. Follow-up with a collagen rebuilding mask/serum for your hair.
