Hi, thank you for this amazing trick! I am not able to put 2 sheets in to the same container. Whenever i add the second one its creating another container below the first one.

Awesome. Thanks. Here is the steps in textual form: Create Duplicate Sheets Modify it to what it should look like after swap. Create Parameter say "P1 - SheetSwap" Add List of Values Ø View as XY-chart Ø View as YX-chart Save it Create Calculated Field which looks for those two values: CASE [P1 - SheetSwap] WHEN 'View as XY-chart' THEN 'View as XY-chart' WHEN 'View as YX-chart' THEN 'View as YX-chart' END Click OK Drag it onto the Filters Use "Custom value list" > Enter Text 'View as YX-chart' Means show this particular sheet if the parameter is set to that value. Show current Show Parameter Control of "P1 - SheetSwap" Go to Dashboard > Click any of the charts parameters Ø Make sure sheet swap is visible Drop new Charts onto the old Charts and hide the title.

A question. Is that CASE formula necessary? Wouldn't be sufficient just to create the filter field that will read the value of the parameter straight away? I think the effect would be the same...

Yes - however you'd need to hardcode each additional sheet swap into the code. There is no automatic way to inherit new sheets aside from coding this into the parameter & filter.

when i drag my 2nd chart, it doesnt reduce it down to 1 pixel. It still shows it as an empty box - what am I missing?

hey, how do I make the second sheet 1px. What container are you using?

Technically it's possible, however, with each additional hidden sheet comes a bit of real estate being taken up within the container. You'll see a blank section of the container beginning to expand outward. So to answer you question, it's possible, but won't look very good.

I can't make the sheets hidden. When I drag them into the container and hide the title, I don't see the thin (1 pt) line. And when I toggle using my sheet selector parameter, both sheets are shown, just one shows a chart and the other is blank. What am I doing wrong? How can I make the sheet not selected hidden??

Nicely illustrated, but this is in effect not 'swapping' sheets, rather just selectively filtering all values out from a sheet within a container. The effect you create is 'Swapping', but you're left with the Header of the data-filtered-out sheets, for which value one could tie to the parameter using a calculated field (more tedious work). If only Tableau would simply add a 'Visible' attribute for sheets with a requirement that it be tied to a parameter... too many things in Tableau are about going through hoops and tricks to do something simple that should be MUCH MUCH easier to do. In your video example, it should be allowed for Sheet Chart Type to simply be controlled by a parm, where one can choose allowed formats, in your case Sparkle line vs. Area. If stuff like this is not in the latest Tableau version, lets hope that Tableau starts making the UI much easier. Like why is it so hard to dynamically control font colors, why can't a sheet simply be maximized w/in a dashboard... (QLIK allows for that btw)

Agreed. The result of the filter causes the query running within a worksheet to return no data. The sheet title will persist until hidden, which is a simple right click. You say 'selectively filtering all values out from a sheet within a container', I'll say 'swapping'. The intent is to keep terminology business friendly. Not scientific.

is there a way to hide that title though?
