One thing I really like about the Kobo that no one seems to mention is that it shows the cover of the book you are reading in sleep mode instead of some dumb pattern or advertisement.

I think the kindle does this too if you don't have ads. but it is nice

I received a Kobo Nia for Christmas. Initially it came with 8GB of storage, but when I opened it up I found it was actually a 16GB card which was only formatted to 8GB. I put the card into my PC and used Partition Wizard to extend the primary partition to use the entire card.

Another tip: Install the fonts you like! (create a fonts folder and drag the font files in there) Recommended: Lexend (scientifically proven to make anyone read faster)

For the entire video I was concentrating on the Kobo in your hand, praying it won't get flung away by accident! :) Please avoid moving your hand too much. Great video.

Interesting, the beta feature is standard there in the list for the Dutch ereader but it only comes with the webbrowser and dictionary option. I wonder why we don’t get the other functions… especially the games 😅

Zoals hij al had vermeld moet je “devmodeon” intypen op de zoekbalk en op enter klikken (er komt geen resultaat in) endan ga je gewoon terug en nu de beta feature/functie checken. Het heeft niks te maken met “Dutch ereader”

What would you recommend for browsing? I really want to see what they're like. I'm looking for an e-reader for library books & other e-books (Kindle isn't compatible with Libby in NZ). However I'm online on my tablet a lot and would be great to have an alternative like this because it's much easier on the eyes. If they're not a hassle for browsing then should I look at size 8" or 10" ? I can't find a vid showing browsing, frustrating THANKS

You should be able to select/highlight multiple books in calibre by using the ctrl key!

@@IamayoutubeuserV There are a couple approaches. One is if you can find a cable that lets you plug from kobo to your phone, you should be able to copy and paste files from your phone. Anohter option is to use the web browser on the kobo, and set up a little FTP file server on your phone using app (ANDftp). Hope this helps :)

My kobo cover works as a stand.

my kobo is on sleeping mode and it is showing the book cover but i don’t know how to turn it on, it just doesn’t. and it doesn’t charge as well (i think). i charge it but it doesn’t respond and just keeps showing the cover of a book with “sleeping” at the top of the screen. what should I do😭😭

Only thing I can suggest is press and hold the power button until it either powers off fully or maybe reboots it - you can typically do this with all tech devices

Why doesn’t the kobo Clara HD have night mode? That would definitely be a nice beta function

When you say night mode do you mean the colour of the screen? I believe it does have that feature included

There are "collections" on the kobo, but to be honest not a great system. Not a strong point but you can use the search to find what you want at least.

@@nish_ttp yeah i read something about calibre sorting it but it seems as a hassle. Its pretty amazing anyways with e readers and all the places to get free e books. Ill never manage to read thru everything.

This will depend on which kobo you have. The libra h2o I show here doesn't support audio books but the libra 2 does.

I was curious if you knew of a way to sync your reading progress between the kobo and your phone by any chance? It seems to be possible with books that have been bought through the kobo store but won't work with any books that have been bought outside of their store

Not that I'm aware of I'm afraid, seems like you would need to be accessing the same file or syncing in some way 🤔

Oof that sounds like a pain, I think kobo support mihgt be tbe best bet. Only thing I can think of is doing a factory reset and trying to update again.

not that I'm aware of! it may be possible to access google drive in the built in browser but I think its tricky

no problem. I just checked mine and I think once you have books in progress it doesn't actually show reccommendations, just shows the books you have on the go! Might vary between devices (I have the libra h2o)

The libra h20 I have has no speakers or Bluetooth. The libra 2 I believe has Bluetooth to listen to audio books but I don't believe it can read normal ones.

What i dislike from devmode is that the invert screen mode doesn’t work anymore😣

Depends on model but I don't think it's a common feature. Some kobo models have audio books

Tip. Don't buy kobo if you want to wirelessly transfer epub books to it. They don't allow wireless transfer, unlike Kindle. I'm annoyed I bought one.
