Welcome to The Paramedic Coach Podcast Episode 2! One of the most critical roles as EMTs and Paramedics is lifting and moving patients. Unfortunately, your patient can be anywhere, requiring various lifting techniques and procedures.
Secondly, working in the back of the ambulance, all day there is a lot of bending and awkward movements you will be required to perform. For example, starting a difficult IV while the ambulance is moving and keeping your balance. I could go on and on but core strength and strong functional lifting abilities will help you tremendously in EMS.
One thing I didn't mention in the podcast video, that I want to mention here is stress management and taking time to make sure YOU are healthy and that YOU are OK. So many of us in EMS focus on patient's day in and day out that we forget to take care of ourselves.
I hope the practical tips in this video help you become a stronger and more fit version of yourself so that you can continue to be an asset to the communities you serve!
