Get Security Updates for Windows 8.1 until 2026!
UPDATE: This doesn't work anymore. Someone at Micro$oft must have seen this video and changed it so that you can't install these updates anymore. :(
A few months ago, I made a video detailing my process as to how I was able to get security updates for Windows 7 until late 2024. Ever since then, I have been getting asked if it is possible on Windows 8.1 or not. I thought it wasn't possible, until now. This video walks through the entire process of getting these updates on Windows 8.1.

Still works, but have to manually install updates or use wsus server to pull updates.
Can you tell why you switched to Linux? I think Windows 10 is fine.

This works on WIndows 8.1 Starter Edition. The feburary and march 2024 updates will not install. it says update is not applicable to this computer.

You have to install the KB5034866 before installing the february 2024 update.
wil this work for windows 10 bc it ends support in a year

Going to ditch Windows 10 and reinstall my Windows 8.1.
Only updates I get now is malicious software update. Using 8.1 as main OS since 2014.
Everything went ok when i accidentally deleted all folders in the download folder in software distribution and now i CANT get anymore server 2012 r2 updates dont do this

No, there are no windows 8.1 drivers for 30 series cards. I’ve heard that the windows 10 drivers should work though

Oof, Windows 10 is so heavy but its the only oldest OS to support new drivers 😢
The 2024-01 Rollup installed successfully but 2024-02 did not. I'll post the error msg in a bit. Error popup window for KB5034819 - Server 2012 R2 Rollup: - Windows Update Standalone Installer - This update is not applicable to your computer.

I have a different guide for Windows 7, however it stopped working, at least for me. Maybe someone at Microsoft saw my videos and patched the workaround lol.

UpdatePack7 is much easier and smaller to download. Basically a one-click installer. Last update was 2024.2.14

Metro Apps in Windows 8.x no longer work as they only work in Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 21H2+.

Nope sorry. The Windows Server 2012 updates are only available for x64. I'd recommend trying Debian or another x86-supporting Linux distro.

You can try downgrade to windows 8, someone made a way to get updates like this one Just the minus is its Windows 8 RTM (not 8.1) and the option also available for x86 computers Or upgrade to windows 10....

If so, it would be really fantastic to have a way to bypass the W11 update... hopefully there is another way to get it working. Just found this video and was happy, when I noted the "doesn't work anymore"...

why you saying, that this isn't work? I am tested this software on my new server (with server 2012 r1) - all works. You meaning, that this not work with client windows nt 6.2/6.3? Sorry for language quality, i am not owning english so good.
Windows 8.1 is great for small tablet. Fast enough even for 1GB RAM.
Can it run MS Office?
