I dunno how yours worked out, but on 3 traps, I've caught 4 cucumber beetles and 6 million houseflies!

Haha I caught a ton of cucumber beetles, but I also caught a bunch of random bugs as well. Nothing can resist that lure!
I have a lot of bumblebees around, so I would be afraid that they would get caught in it. Sounds like a pretty good idea, but don't want to chance it with my bee buddies. I guess I'll just keep picking those little bastards by hand 😔

Bumble bees are not attracted to yellow. They use strips like these in greenhouses where they use bumble bees to pollinate.
I tried this from Amazon last summer. It caught gnats and a few bees (made me sad). No impact on the cucumber beetle. I've tried beneficial nematodes, and it reduced somewhat the cucumber beetles. Eliminated the Japanese beetles (great). Mild impact on flea beetles, which attack eggplant. I may have needed to repeat the nematodes more in early spring. Problem is that some methods can hurt beneficial insects.
The thing is, you hung the lure right by your plants that they're after. It would be better to hang it further away from your plants. It's hard to do cuz you see them buzzing around your plants tho. So I got the regular cheep ones without the lure to hang by my plants. That way I catch some of the ones that aren't lured away. And it's probably wrong to admit that I take great glee in every one that I catch and smash. But yeah, there it is. I really do.

Awesome, thanks for the advice! I'll give it a try hanging it further away and see how it goes. And I also get a lot of joy out of destroying these pests lol
Please please please don't use these! I tried them. They caught everything accept the cucumber beetles. Not wanted were killing bees, butterflies but this morning I found a small bird! Wings were stuck solid, it had ripped half its wing off from obvious struggle. Barely alive I had to put it out of its misery and I'm not happy about it. I took them out immediately and won't use ever again! I suggest for indoors only!
I put em in the high tunnel mistake it actually attracted more beetles with the feremones in the scent I was inundated.Put em far away from your Cukes. Also I mostly caught bees and flies on the other traps. Funny video loved it.
I just subscribed! I'm subscriber number 99! So close to 100!
Whats inside the packets you added between the yellow plastic - think you called it a “lure”?
OMG, thanks so much for this. I'm in Ohio and just discovered these little bastard$ a few days ago in my zucchini that had just sprouted and in my beans. I'm getting these traps ASAP!!

Glad I could help! These traps will definitely do the trick👍👍
Can you please put up a link to the trap? I can't seem to find trap and lure on Amazon.
Will they then save your plants if they have already started wilting from the dang things?
So if you're using the yellow sticky traps yo catch beetles, would they then not also catch bees?? I'm just worried that I try the same thing, and it catches the beetles (which is what I want) but then it also works so well that it catches bees (which I don't want to happen).
I wonder if it works with squash lady bugs. I spend more time picking them and their nasty little spawn than I do vegetables. But like Erika smith noted in a comment here, I'd be concerned about trapping all my varieties of bumbley bees (didn't know there were so many) as well as any other beneficial insects. Guess I'll just keep pickin'.
You’re using neem oil that contains clarified hydrophobic extract instead of neem oil with azadirachtin SOLELY. That’s why the spray might not have been effective
does pyritthren kill them?
I started using sevin dust it seems to hold them back. Tried all the organic stuff it never works just more work to do.
Heard a few on other videos saying these have the smell that attacks the beetle so it can bring them from your whole neighborhood to YOUR garden
Are you catching bees as well? Northwestern CT- staying up too late at night trying to catch them. Just inundated

I haven't caught a single bee with my traps. Maybe bees are just smarter than cucumber beetles lol. I did catch one lady bug but it really hasn't been a problem otherwise with beneficial insects.
I wanna get bug zappers too Everytime I’m out at night smashing them they seem to be attracted to my flashlight so a zapper it is.

That's a great idea! I'd love to know how it works out!
Wonderful. I’m going to buy these traps at once. The striped beetles are destroying my garden this year here in western Mass.

Thanks for making me laugh while providing some good info. Did you trap end up catching a lot of other bugs along with the cucumber beetles?

Haha glad you found some value and entertainment in it! The trap definitely caught some other bugs but a majority were cucumber beetles. I had one lady bug stuck to it which I felt bad about but other than that I was pretty happy with the results👍

Do these traps get less sticky after being rained on?
I curse at the pests in my garden with a little accent, too! 😂 Gosh, I hope these traps help! I am sooooo tired of retreating with neem oil and every other organic potion I’ve tried!
It’s my understanding these are only used so you can identify when the cucumber beetle is present in the garden and how bad the infection is (by seeing how many are on there). This is not to correct the issue.

Exactly. It's not going to work well for controlling or eliminating them. Farmers use these for detection like tou said and then they use insecticides
A word of caution, I have tried these and birds are attracted to them. We had to stop using it when they would get caught.

I’m trying them to catch cucumber beetles on my pumpkins. If I catch a bird I’ll stop using them too. But I have to try everything! I don’t like, or want to use chemicals. I have been totally organic so far. We’ll see if they work.
Did the bees get trapped?
I used these traps and just like others have said I caught a few beetles, a few bees, and a ton of houseflies and gnats. My cucumbers remained infested with the beetles. I even tried fashioning the sticky traps into duplicate blossoms by cutting the sticky paper and making cones to resemble the blossoms and I had the same result. I tried the yellow cups with various soap, water, and vinegar concoctions listed online and it had little effect. Neem oil didn’t work for me and neither did diatomaceous earth. I’m in the Northeast Ohio area and had good success with cucumbers my first few years but the last few have just been devastating. I’ve replaced the soil in these areas and I will try one more time. To date I’m simply not aware of an organic/non toxic method for dealing with these pests. Most every garden center I went to recommended seven-dust. That will probably be the product I try this year.

So what was it? Call them bastards, it hurts their feelings then they fly away?

probably by looking for bees stuck to it
BASICALLY A STICKY PAD. GOOD IDEA UNLESS THE BUGS U WANT GET CAUGHT N IT
I have a lot of those sticky things for my indoor plants I was tempted to put them outside , but I was worried about the bees 🐝 😢 I want to bees but not wasps and these little fu****s.
You'll also catch and kill dragonflies, butterflies, bees, small bird's and all the helpful flying insects. Bad idea.
I bought these and it just caught gnats! Not a single Cucumber beetle. And those weren't cheap either. 😢
And birds get stuck etc etc
My thoughts EXACTLY!
I bought one and hung it. A bird got stuck in it. He gently let me pull him off but it totally wasn't worth it lol
only thing that works for me is spraying them with seven when first notice them.
I'm glad you got the little b***ards. 😂
I just learned never to put the traps by your plants! It brings them in to your garden.
I’ve never had these before😳 it’s almost (almost) as bad as squash bugs. !$$??!!
Did nothing for my problem
I don't get rid I them, I keep them
Id recommend not using premixed neem oil. Get pure neem and mix it up. I mix it with my water soluble fertilizer and use it. The pre mixed stuff isnt as good in my experience and is far more expensive per use. squash bugs and cuke Beatles are horrible in Ky. I get joy in killing them and Im usually a let it live type of guy.. but not these bastards lol

How long does it usually take to see a difference? How often do you apply yours? I've been applying weekly for 2 weeks in and they are still a problem. Does it take a good while to see a big difference?
@truthseeker9561

@@daniellebailey6802 if I notice them heavy, I'll spray I once, then again 4 days later. If it rains it will wash off I've also found that spraying peppermint oil can confuse them and make it harder to find your plants after trimming them. Some years tho, they seem to not be phased like other years and it's a daily chore to pick them and kill them every morning through each way. We have had 3 waves this year but have been able to catch them in the egg stage which has made a HUGE difference. Hope the info helps.✌❤
bastard is too polite a word to describe them
