Because he is boring he takes no interest in things and people like that are detached from reality... UK certainly does not need a minority government (but we always seem to get them) that only garnered 1/3 of the vote which is insane... I know politicians are bad at maths and they decide on which system we use , but their maths skills are really appalling... No wonder the Country is in such a mess when they can not even work out which number is the higher number and the lower number...

I think all countries should have boring leaders. We make too big of a deal about how 'interesting' and 'memorable' they are at first glance. And we get politicians who are wildly narcissistic, attention seeking and in it for their own grandiosity than actually running the country well and caring about the people in it. We need competent, boring leaders. Starmer seems atleast one of those. Here's wishing Britain he is competent also 🤞. Wish America had boring politicians whose only claim to fame is that they had music lessons with someone... sigh

No, but I did see an article where people are researching what countries and US states to move to so they aren't taxed to death. When Corbyn was running for PM he said he'd again nationalize industry if is party won a majority of seats. And millions of UKers thought that sounded wonderful, ignoring that the UK tried just that before (virtually every business was owned by the government) and the country grinding to a halt in 1979 was the result. One documentary from that era was discussing how hard it was to come into contact with the private sector in the UK in the 1970s because it was so very small. There was the occasional mom and pop grocery that was privately owned, but the factories, airlines, rail lines, mines, etc. where all government owned.

My dad died at the time, my mum shortly afterwards… but we did have good laughs at school and I remember the ‘Commerce’ teacher making Emily stand in the rubbish bin in the corner of the classroom… not sure what the significance of this was or is, but let’s just have a laugh and hope for a better future. I don't know much about Starmer. That said, he looks like a genuine, kind man, and I think that's what we need in politics. My mum was invited to the house of commons as part of her work and afterwards, there was this kind of dinner meet. She accidentally interrupted Starmer's speech by arriving a bit late, as their group got a bit lost, but he was really nice to her. We desperately need a nice, compassionate leader whose personal and professional antics won't be in the news everyday. Boring may just be what we need.

3:45 Actually, I love the idea of only asking yes/no questions and not letting the candidates actually speak. The more candidates are allowed to drone on and on, the easier it is to waste time **not** answering the questions. Such a question/answer session can be followed up with a town hall at a later date in which they're allowed to expand on their original yes/no answer.

@@DexSilverunlike most he has been in some terrible conditions while doing charity work and Indiana Jones-esque tourism trips. He's done quite a lot of work in Afghanistan. Both him and Corbyn regardless of how or what I disagree with specifically, are clearly genuine people unlike Starmer and Farage.

He is a bit of a twat though in reality... But people tend to say a politician is a good person when that politicians says something they agree with... I hate politicians , they are awful people , liars , deceitful , corrupt , never true to what they say... Trying to please people always ends badly... If only we had direct democracy then no more pleasing the minority which is why you get into huge messes...

I'll take boring well meaning competence (or incompetence. I'm being optimistic and hopeful that Keir Starmer and Labour cannot possibly be worse than the Tories, surely they can't be worse.) over more crazy malicious Tory incompetence. We need some normality and "boring" in this case, means normality.
