    It's all about AI and machine learning 😉 Think of it as you, closing one eye, while staring into the real world. You can still tell whether an object is far or near without your other eye open, right? The same thing is possible with the single-lens cameras.

    Google Map this thing, indoor, everywhere, every corner. Some kind of thing above the streetview, full AR Maps view. Just enable it Now. And let users add all the data in real-time everywhere. Compress it if there is too much data..

    I don't think that's feasible? There's no application for that level of granular depth information, not to mention the fact that all this data likely changes on the day-to-day

  • @charbax

    @charbax

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@yeetusfetus8687 yes it's easily possible. And users can click to agree to "scan the world" and uploading it to that Google Maps AR layer. And yes the data can get updated day to day, but Google can store history of the data so if people want they can go back in time at any specific location on the planet, just some easy way to scroll back in time, if there are new versions of each place that get added. Once a high quality scan of a place has been submitted, anyone else coming back trying to scan that same place would know that the place was already scanned before so perhaps no need to scan again unless some significant change has happened there. And then this data should enable precise indoor AR navigationing.

  • @sirbughunter

    @sirbughunter

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@charbax It'll be years from now until Google will be able to use the data. It's just A LOT OF DATA and it'll be VERY hard to structure it, so that it makes sense... Lots of Machine Learning and Computer Vision progress needed. I say they'll inform us about that at next I/O, then trial it a few months later. And then in 2021 start mapping key areas in the US. And then they'll map key areas in major countries and cities like Berlin, Germany, in 2022. Only my assumption based on what I know how Google operates most of the time.
