This helped a ton. I was already using a ColorCheckr Passport for basic color matching but sometimes I end up with crazy blue/purple shifts and wanted to learn some manual correction methods based on the scopes. This answered exactly that.
Dude my mind just exploded by realizing how aware you are of light temps. I've become a video enthusiast in the last 5 months for a number of reasons and you just showed me the way for further investigation out of the hardware/software side of things. Thank you!
By far, the most accurate and complete WB process I've seen. Great work, and thanks!
WOW, crazy good info. Now I realize how basic the TV Broadcasting and Production school I attended was.

I am glad I could help 🙂
What a great tutorial! You helped me fix my bad color so fast!
Just got a Spyder checkr24 so I'm excited to try it out and color match some in DaVinci Resolve.
Great Video! Most videos about color correcting with a color-checker only do the first step (with the overlay). This was very informative and helpful!
Thanks mate for this great lesson on how to use the color chart.
Thanks so much for this, this has really helped my colour correction skills.
Wow! It feels like such a casual video but you explained the whole process better than any other video I could find on the topic. Thanks man, Finally I can stop being pinkish in my videos!
Wonderfully definitive video. Good job!
Thank you very clearly demonstrated, very much appreciated best wishes
this is by far, THE BEST tutorial for color correction that I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them tutorials. THANK YOU

Thank you!
Hey man, Your'e supposed to leave the colour chart tool at 6500. It's standard. That's why your image was very warm straight away. also good to tick the white level box.

Glad it helped!
Thanks a lot
Mate you did a good job but I have to tell you that the colour swatches on the spyder are actually NOT correct for matching to the squares in the vector scope. I made the same mistake. For no good reason whatsoever, data labs decided to use different Color’s than what matches your primary Color’s in the vector scope. If you compare the primary Color swatches on spyder to xrite, they are different Color’s. I know it’s a bummer to hear and I was bummed out too but I feel you are better off knowing this.
Just a heads up I think the colour temperature is saying what temperature should this emulate. Resolves neutral colour temperature is 6500k which is why the first shot too so long much longer to match where as the second was basically spot on and the first one was warmer. I did however like how you explained how to match it manually using the chart in case it needs tweaking.
Great!!!! 👍🏻
Thanks Bro:)
Great Great video
Nice explanation I have quick qus...when to apply lut before color corrected ( matching color checker ) or after lut applied ??? What is best way to get perfect color even applied lut....because some luts gets more warm tones some luts get cool tones...waiting for ur reply

You're welcome
Hey, thanks for the insightful tutorial. I'm curious about how this process compares to using the Color Space Transform (CST) in DaVinci Resolve. If I've already applied a CST, would there be a need to use the color match feature with a color checker? It seems to me that using the color checker might be a combination of CST, white balancing, and some color correction. Am I on the right track ?
Brilliant video. Question. I'm shooting Vlog on a GH5 to an Atomos Ninja V and appling a LUT in post. Do I apply the Spider Checker before or after appling the LUT in Resolve? Also using Vlog as my source gamma... what do you think my Target Gamma and Color Space should be?

Use the spider to make sure all your shots look the same color-wise; after that you can apply a single LUT to the whole timeline which gives it your desired creative look.
i have a problem with masks in the power window, when i click on the button to see where the mask is operating the frame become black and white where the white is the part where the mask is operating. I'm not able to switch the function to see the colours selected on the frame. Do you know why i see the selected part in white and not the baskground?? 'cos the vectorscope interpratate the white of selection like a white, so i can't calibrate the colours 'cos i can't see them. thank you
Ofc it became warm since you left the specified WB at 6500k
can this be done in the free version of resolve?

Yes
Strange how every one deals with saturation by his own way, bc here sat is supposed to be at 100%. Some other charts are 50 %. Not to say the X-rite colors (as everybody says) should match better for video. Must say some correction with this Spyder thing sometimes look better, despite reported not correct in sRGB (but correct for Adobe color space, raw color space for photography I believe). For newbies it get's a bit confusing.
brutally rubbish video you do not change the temp, this is the temp of your display you have underexposed the image on acquisition
