As a martial arts fan and physics nerd. This is just beautiful to watch. Love the way the angular momentum of the dart is used to accelerate it by shortening the rope, then the angular acceleration is turned to linear velocity by removing centripetal force by letting the rope get slack.

When it's slowed down you can see how by using an arm or leg to catch the rope row arc of the swing is reduced and the change in centrifugal force amps up the speed. Like a figure skater pulling in their arms and legs to spin faster. It's something I never cught up to when seeing this at full speed.

are you sure you understand what you're saying? because reducing radius this way doesn't automatically increase tangential velocity, his arm or leg exert external force with respect to the pendulum (rope+mass system). Figure skaters reduce the "radius" of their own mass by their own muscle, that is, internal force inside the spinning system.

This was so freaking cool to watch! You have mad skills man!

It appears to me to work exactly like a planetary gravity assist...as the projectile is forced into a tighter "orbit" around the body or body part it picks up energy - with the tricky part being where and exactly when in that process to let it go. Very impressive.

I messed with a bull whip for a few weeks, once. Yes, I learned how to crack it. Yes, I has welts all over my body to prove I was practicing. The best part? Showing my skills off to my work buddies. Then, THEY wanted to try, because it looked so easy. Muhahahaha!

He actually does in the more recent MK games. It's not just the stab and pull "get over here!!" anymore. He has lots of different moves and combos with it.

Naw, should be the other way, where if theres a direct impact, the outer sleeve slides backwards exposing inner blade.

Exercise is more important to survive than having a gun. Heart problems is a huge killer.

Man this weapon is definetly the final boss of the weapon category of "if you dont know how to use it, you will break your balls"

As counter someone just casually spins a toy-on-a-string and suddenly your nose is broken because that toy was catapulted right into it.

I like the way you show it in slow mo *and* at full speed. Lets you see the dynamics and then appreciate how quickly it all happens. Awesome video!

Imagine you try jumping this guy and he just whips this out real quick.

Anyone that has reflexes will see this coming. Anyone that has learned to fight will step to the side, let it go past them, and then end the fight while the person is focusing on not killing themself with their own weapon. Practicing with this is silly What a lot of people do with nunchaku do is pretty bad, but this is just laughable to a crazy degree

@@ShopperPlug I admit that anyone with proper training will just avoid it and probably try to grab the rope or go real quickly for a hit, but you're thinking like your opponent is not trained either. Anyone who can do this is more than likely to have martial arts training, extensive training too, I can see this being a quick move to surprise you and by the time you're avoiding the projectile the guy will have a free shot at you. Also it's obviously a joke, there is something funny about imagining a man taking out a rope and start fighting the criminal.
