Get Low for EPIC Landscape Photos!

We're in Sedona, Arizona and catching beautiful light for some epic landscape photography.
Join one of my landscape photography trips: bit.ly/BvSTrips
My Camera Gear: bit.ly/BvSGear
I've been out taking photos in Sedona at least a half dozen times. And I don't think I've ever seen a cloud while here. So, I was amazed when we got a full 36 hours of cloud and epic light conditions here. It was landscape photography paradise.
I focused on photographing a couple new locations here in Sedona.
The spots we photographed on today's vlog were:
- Secret Slide Rock
- Airport Mesa
- Red Rock Crossing

Nice southwest photos. Next month, my wife and I are driving to Anaheim to help with a conference and then swinging around to Scottsdale to help with another conference. When I saw your Canyon de Chelly video, I said I have to hit this on the way home (Windsor, Colorado) as I haven't been there yet . Then I saw your Canyon X trip and that's still on my bucket list and good to know that its still possible. But then you went to Sedona and my wife and I have 4 days in Sedona after Scottsdale, I've been there several times, but it never gets old shooting the amazing landscape. Then you just said you were doing a west coast road trip. At the end of April, my wife and I are helping with a conference in Cambria, CA, just south of Hearst Castle. We helped with a conference there last year and then drove up the coast (got some photos of the elephant seals, a few miles from Cambria) and then to Monterrey and had some clam chowder in our favorite place. Then we drove all the way to Seaside Oregon where we spent a 5 nights in Seaside before driving past Mount St. Helens and up Mt. Rainier before helping with a conference at Lake Washington. Then we caught a flight to Anchorage and rented a car and drove to Seward and then Homer where our daughter and her husband lived. Got lots of photos of sea otters and puffins, whales just off shore and amazing seascapes and a glacier. After a week there, we flew back to Seattle and drove back to Colorado with a stop at Twin Falls (amazing falls). It was an epic trip. I was also in Vienna this past June (that St. Charles Church was one of my favorite spots, so its quite interesting that we are ending up in some of the same places. And our daughter (from Alaska) was hiking in Nepal around the same time you were. Maybe our paths will cross some day.

I went to Sedona for the first time last October and, while the scenery was amazing, I wasn't expecting so much civilization butting right up against so many of the rock formations. I'll definitely go back to explore more secluded opportunities. Just curious if putting your tripod in flowing water introduces any camera vibration/movement that becomes an issue on your longer exposures and what you do to clean/maintain the tripod after it's been in water?

I've had to deal with tons of folks getting in a long exposure shot before, it is not fun, but there is really not much that we can do other than shot the blue hour or go find secluded spots away from the crowds. I too was wondering how you got the shot where the camera was on but inches from the water. The .5 sec shot I can understand, the longer exposure can be a challenge with crowd control. Awesome to see and learn from fellow photographers like you Brendan. Love the vids, great job, keep em coming!
