Video to choose the best college - • Study abroad 2024 Road...

Most of us think that a low GMAT/GRE/GPA is the end of our abroad MBA aspirations. But that is not true. Sometimes, you can maneuver your way past a low test score if you know how to communicate well. In this video, I have told 5 strategies you can use to communicate well with the admission board to get into your dream college with a low GMAT score or low GRE score. First of all, you need to give your verbal and quant scores separately during admissions. In this video, I referred to verbal as a weakness but you can replace it with quants if you’re weak in quants.
If you have a low GMAT between 650-700 or a low GRE between 320-325 then that doesn’t mean the gates are shut. I have discussed 5 strategies through which you can communicate to the college that your low GMAT or GRE is not indicative of your weakness. You need to show that a weak GMAT score is just an anomaly. The first strategy on the list is to go and retake the exam. You need to show the admissions committee that you are not giving up. They will believe that you are taking that extra effort to improve your GMAT score. This is very important
Admissions committee officers appreciate your overall effort. Second, on the list is College Profile Overlap. If there is a college with a good overlap with your profile then consider applying to that college. For example, if you are a software engineer, consider applying to the University of Washington Foster MBA College. Because this college will value your software background. They place roughly 50% of the entire class in the technology sector. Most of the class stays back in the Seattle area and goes for the tech roles there.
If you go there and say your profile is relevant even though you have a low GMAT score, they still might give you a chance because your profile is what employers are looking for within that college. So, you have to see where is a good match. If you have worked in the oil industry before then go to colleges in the Texas region. This is the level of research you need to find a good college that will cater to your needs. Third, when you are going to write your optional essay - I strongly recommend you do that - communicate that a Low GMAT score or low sectional score within GMAT doesn’t show your weakness. You can talk about different things you have done that show proficiency in Verbal, quants, or any other section.
The fourth strategy is to get that letter of recommendation. Tell anyone who is going to give you the letter of recommendation that your GMAT score is low in a particular section and they can highlight something which will compensate for that and support your strengths. This will negate the assumption that you are weak in a particular section. The fifth thing is to build a strong resume. You can write about many things in your resume. You can write about projects, leadership, analytical work, and so on. But if your GMAT score already says that you are good at maths, what you should do is try to highlight that your past work shows you are also good in verbal. Hope you liked this video, please let me know what you think about it.

Verbal section of GMAT is about logical reasoning not about communication skills.

Thanks Pavan! I myself have a 166Q and 154V - 320 and I am retaking it soon and if that doesn't work out, I might as well attempt once more post application submission in R1. The LOR technique and Optional essays hack is really good. I will use it in my applications! Thank you!

Thank you for the video. May I request you to make a deep dive on the 'college-profile' overlap? Myself and my friends keep researching to find out precise information of the 'college-profile' overlaps, but fail to get trustworthy information. Just like you gave example in this video of OIL AND GAS PROFESSIONALS SHOULD APPLY IN TEXAS COLLEGES, we would like to understand this mapping for other profiles also. We will be really grateful to you.
