Get Here - Oleta Adams (MasterPeace in Concert)

MasterPeace in Concert - "Music above Fighting"
On September 21, 2014, MasterPeace celebrated the UN International Day of Peace with 55 events in 42 countries, including many in conflict areas. At the heart of these MasterPeace celebrations, a heartwarming concert took place in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) bringing top artists from (former) conflict areas together on one stage, supported by the renowned Metropole Orkest.
The concert focused the world’s attention on the universal longing for a sustainable world, free of armed conflict. To fuel dialogue and celebrate diversity. All artists supported this call with a truly mesmerizing show. Including the famous Oleta Adams: about.masterpeace.org/oleta-ad... With a heartwarming performance of her well-know song 'Get Here' she managed to get the Ziggo Dome all warmed up.
MasterPeace is a global grassroots movement that inspires everyone to use their talent and energy for peace building and togetherness. With music, art, sport and dialogue MasterPeace teams in 42 countries focus on disarmament and the prevention of new armed conflict.
MasterPeace will mobilize millions of people worldwide to take actions for peace. MasterPeace Clubs are present in more than forty countries including current and former conflict areas such as Afghanistan, Columbia, Sierra Leone and Nepal.

@@dennisryan6370 That's rubbish. Throughout every genre, not every single artist or group reaches super stardom (globally or in certain regions). It's for various reasons. Sometimes it's lack of appeal to a broader audience (for various reasons), lack of promotion from record label, poor management, not picking the right singles, etc. I've seen artists lose steam due to having an outdated sound, or being completely ignored in one country while achieving fame in another. Just because you're a great artist doesn't mean you automatically have all the ingredients to be a star. That requires having the right team behind you who KNOWS exactly what to do to maximize your strengths, appeal and exposure. I don't care if you believe in Leprechauns, that doesn't mean your album is going gold! You can believe in every single GOD from the beginning of time, that doesn't mean you're going to be a multi-platinum force that wins a Pulitzer prize for being the best thing since sliced bread. Oleta may not have super star status, but she's been nominated for four Grammy awards and had two top 10 albums in the UK. That alone means a lot!

I originally posted this 4 years ago. We're about to celebrate our 30th anniversary, now. Still love the sone just as much. I can't thank Oleta enough for this song. I had been married 4 months, when my Marine Unit was deployed because of the 1st Gulf War. About halfway through the deployment, my wife sent a tape with this song leading off the other songs she sent. We're about to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and during my career I have often had to travel for work. Every time I have to leave, I hear Ms. Adam's song encouraging me to get home.

I saw Oleta in 1984 in Kansas City, before she made the big time. My wife I I went out 3-4 nights a week, listening to many great bands at Country Club Plaza. There were several amazing female singers. But Oleta’s manager, Gary Mack, told me one night that Oleta was the only one that would make it. Incredible voice, unique style - she was the one that had IT. Gary was right. I’m so proud of you Oleta. And so pleased to be able to say, I knew you way back then!

I was in high school when this came out I was about 17. I have been in foster homes and tools home until I was sixteen. I haven't seen my mother in a while so I took a bus and went to Galveston to look for my mom and my grandmother. Before I found my mom this song will play and I was just wishing and hoping that I can see her. Estate has taken me and my sisters and brothers because of abuse. And I still love my mother and I'm glad I found her. This song Encourage me to look at my mother and the rest of my family look for them no matter what. Being in the state custody I thought they'll never find my family. Unfortunately my mother died cancer why she was only 44 years old.

Wow! This took me back to my husband's deployment from Ft. Benning, GA to the Gulf War. This was my "hold on song", and I will never forget the strength that God blessed me with every time I heard this song, until my husband got home. Thank you Oleta! What a blessing your song was to me and the many military spouses who were waiting for their spouses to get there to them.

She sounds like her record live which many just cannot do. She is truly gifted with the gift of Music. A Real Talent and real Lady.

To be able to remain controlled and in charge while being up against loud instruments seemingly competing against your voice is AMAZING!!! The music was too loud and you could read it in her face. BUT she pulled it off like the Queen she is!! Kudos to Oleta. A musical genius in performance. I wonder was the music that loud during rehearsal because someone should be called to the carpet!!
