His lyrics are pretty extreme, but he went a bit lighter with the most recent scumfuck album. But his vocal range has definitely improved, he has a lot more techniques and tones now.

You always say not to use your throat but it’s impossible not to. That’s where the sound comes from

Obviously the core distortion is coming from the throat, but you should feel more tension in your gut/chest and most of the resonance in your mouth/nasal area. And you don’t really control the airflow or “pitch” with your throat either (unless you’re getting into more experimental fry stuff like exhale cricket/frog vocals). So once you understand the distortion, most of the work is not being done from the throat. Mark probably phrases it this way just to discourage newcomers from thinking they have to put stress on their throats.

What's the word he says at 30:31? Sounds like "rittenoidal" but subs say "written oil" and google says "retinoid" relates to chemicals to treat skin conditions, not throat anatomy.
