Modernist author Gertrude Stein was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, on February 3, 1874. Stein moved to Paris in 1903, embarking on a literary career that produced Tender Buttons and Three Lives, as well as work dealing with homosexual themes. Stein was also a prolific art collector and the host of a salon that included expatriate writers Ernest Hemingway, Sherwood Anderson and Ezra Pound. #Biography

I didn't know what to except but I very quickly became an admirer.
She has an interesting gravestone at Pere lachaise cemetery. Her name is on one side and Alice B. Toklas' name is on the opposite side.

Catharine Stimpson reminds me of Una, Lady Troubridge, the lover of Radclyffe Hall. May I respectfully suggest a short biog of RH? Like Gertrude, a fascinating and narcissistic, character!
Interesting Bio, became interested through reading F.Scott Fitzgerald and watching Midnight in Paris....but I gotta say, WHY are you using music from the Sims3 in the background? lol

Yonathan, personally I dislike Gertrude's scribblings but I do admire her magnificent face and her patronage of the arts. Thank goodness for rich dilettantes 😏
