@@mary-tk2is agreed,he did; but this performance is like Julie Andrews singing the Sound Of Music. It's a bar that's hard to surpass
This is by far, the finest version I’ve heard thus far of this classic..

One of the best opera arias ! I love it so much.
FABULOUS orchestration. This is the way Gershwin wrote it and meant for it to be heard. If you've ever seen it on stage, it's electric. Good acting as well.
what a voice... brilliant.....
Amazing performance!
FABULOUS!!! Some of the best showtunes EVER written!

OMB. Electrifying!!
I have this performance through itunes. been listening to it for a month now.
I just heard him sing the first line while watching a "Jeffersons, tribute and I had to pause and track this down. Amazing!!!
Fantastic!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow. I never knew he could Sang
Fun fact: the original (all black) New York City cast had NO IDEA what cocaine was and expressed general bafflement at this scene - with the exception of John Bubbles, the original Sportin’ Life, who was said to “know all about it”. I also suspect the composer (and lyricist DuBose Heyward) were sufficiently clued in.

I’m guessing quite a few of the (all white) people in the seats knew what it was too, it was 1935.
I love Damon Evans, always!

Who knew that Lionel from the Jefferson's could sing like that!

The Jeffersons does not carry an apostrophe. The ‘second’ Lionel has always been an opera singer!
Omg...that's a real baby 👶🏿 ! Bravo Damon 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿 !!!
A great role, first for Cab Cab Calloway, and then this brilliant performance.
Whoa, that’s not a doll! …Amazing performance of this song.
In a work of extraordinary moments, maybe the most powerful.

GREAT SONG OVERPLAYED INTO PABLUM BY THE ORCHESTRA
Despite all the controversy over the casting I wonder if they could mix the races? Sportin' Life could be white...
seems a very odd directorial choice to have the baby with her in this very tumultuous scene.

Adding an innocent child to this unnerving scene brought even more stress. Is Bess going to leave the poor child just to get drugged and get pimped out by him in NewYork?.
She doesnt love this mudak
