Germany wants to deport more migrants - but is that even viable? | DW News

The heads of Germany's states are meeting with the chancellor to discuss migration issues. The government is considering new measures to more easily deport migrants whose asylum application was rejected or who have been convicted of certain crimes. It's a controversial topic in some areas of Germany, but not in parts of the East, where the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany is the strongest political party. Many newly arrived migrants there worry that they're no longer welcome.

    Controversial to deport criminals?

  • @fabianelsen3716

    @fabianelsen3716

    Yes because we don't have formal diplomatic relations with countries like Afghanistan. We would have to acknowledge (at least to some extent) the legitimacy of a literal terrorist regime to send people back there. Furthermore they would most definitely ask to be paid for taking them back. Basically what you people are asking for is to pay the Taliban money to send criminals over there who would receive a warm welcome from that terror group and might just be trained, using german taxpayers money to vomit more crimes. Seriously folks.. you only need two braincells to rub together to understand how dense this "solution" is.

    Clearly the concern is regarding deporting criminals (convicted of committing particular offences) back to countries such as Afghanistan, Syria or the like where the criminals could be tortured or executed. I think that we can understand the complexity of any such shift in policy in the context of managing domestic politics and German participation in a world where every man, woman and their dog wants to remind us of the atrocious acts perpetrated against people in the thirties and forties.

A sushi dish cooked in germany its still a Japanese dish made in germany, not a german dish, even if it was made in germany and with german ingredients. On New Year's Eve 2015/2016 in Cologne, there were numerous sexual assaults and robberies, sparking a wide debate on Germany's immigration policy and security. Most of the suspects were identified as coming from North African countries, fueling controversies over immigration and integration. This is how it started in Germany; the effects were felt immediately, influencing public opinion and immigration policy across Europe. Where is this leading?
