The reason "Germany" has so many names is partly due to all the different Germanic tribes. The Alemanni to the south (French) (Alemanni might mean "All people" like the standard German "Alle Menschen") The Saxons to the north (Finnish) The Polish word probably came from a proto-slavic word meaning "foreigner" or "mute" or "not us" The word "Deutschland" is a cognate of the English "Dutch," which means the people but then evolved into being Germany. The word "Germany" came from Latin when Julius Caesar called these Germanic tribes "Germania"

Þe adjective/term "deutsch" actually comes from þe italian word "tedesco", which changed over time to "deutsch". (Don't ask me why þey call(ed) Germany "Tedesco".)

@@junejulien8845 I don't think it came from Italian. Most trace it back to proto-germanic "Theudisk" and when German's þ became d it became more like Deudisk. Then the di dropped and the sk became ch or something like that. I think it went that way because Iceland, a very conservative language, calls Germany "Þýskalandi." Which is corresponds well with the sound shifts that German went through.

@@prosterdbz9663 You may know neighborhoods or small communities... Imagine every county making their own country, with flag and duke and everything, and once every few decades the Emperor drops by (which sounds nice, but is a terrible blow to your bank account, because he and his 1000 or so courtiers want to be fed and everything) "unifying" this clusterfuck of micro nations into the 'Holy Roman Empire'. It's like herding cats, when the cats can't stand each other and try to backstab themselves all the time. Unless some other power comes along trying to conquer one of the small members of the HRE, and suddenly the bar-fight stops, and everybody is looking weird at the intruder.

It has also been proven that working for more than 6 hours a day decreases productivity. Most of the time you'll become sloppy and need to invest time into fixing mistakes you made today the next day. That's the entire secret behind German efficiency and why they need half the time to do a better job than most others.

0:10 well actually Poland and Japan maintained good relationship since the 19th century (ik Poland isn't independent at this time but the Japanese are already praising it's people back then) and Japan even condemned the German invasion of Poland in 1939 as Japan and Poland are officially allies, when the Polish government in exile was pressured to declare war on Japan, Japan refused stating that it was only Allied pressure and Poland will never do that. And even under soviet rule Poland maintained it's official alliance with Japan and to this day they are officially allies. They are bffs.

Germany has so many names because it only (relatively) recently united. As such names for different parts of (Modern) Germany are used for the whole country. Names similar to 'Diutisk' (Deutschland, Tyskland, etc.) derive from the Old High German name for tribe of the same name. Names similar to 'Germania' (Germany, Djermani, etc.) derive from Julius Caesar's name for the tribe east of the Rhine river. Name similar to 'Alamanni' (Allemagne, Alemannia, etc.) derive from the name of the Upper Rhine tribe of the same name. Names similar to 'Saxon' (Saksa, Saksamaa, etc.) derive from the name of the North Sea tribe of the same name. Names similar to 'Němĭcĭ' (Niemcy, Německo, etc.) derive from the Proto-Slavic word for a foreigner. Names similar to 'Vokietija' (Vācija, Vuoceja, etc.) probably derive from either the Proto-Indo-European word meaning 'To speak unintelligibly' (wekw) or the Southeastern Swedish tribe (Vagoth). However, the origin of 'Vokietija' and it's friends are a bit more disputed.

@@KennyFCB ah the wörk one. In Germany it`s called Arbeit. You could say it`s about cars but Cares are a so little of our economy. It`s more about the Wirtschaftswunder and that stuff i think. Our economy is based on everyone. You surely heared of the german Mittelstand. These are Family leaded industries. nothing big but everyone does there best. And the Cars are just huge. But still it only makes up around 1 million jobs if you count everyone from workers in the Factory to the ones who produces them. So mostly because strong economy. But today it`s more and more populare to reduce the working time to 4 works day a week. Normally we have 40 hours a week but some say we should reduce because studies show that in the 4 days or 6 hours the workers work much more. And some germans would also take less income. But we still have really much workers in the „Niedriglohn“. Wich means only 10 euros an hour ( about 11,87 US Dollers). And now it`s a politicle race about make the income up to 12€ an hour (14,24 US Dollers) or not. Because if you want to be secured in Future you need 12 € an hour for money in the old age or for reperations at your home. Or school stuff. Only then we are 100% secured. But if the inflations goes up like now we soon need 12,50€ or even more an hour. But what comes we have to wait. But the Economy will work because of everyone in there own Family owned Buisnesses with workers.

Honestly, that first meme isn't terribly realistic, Japan has a really weird relationship with Poland where they essentially have waifu'd Poland. Japan sees Poland as "The Samurai State of Europe" Hell, during WWII, Japan actually refused any and all attempts to go to war with Poland, to the point of actually rejecting the Polish Declaration of War against them when they joined.
