Germany looked like they had 12 players on the pitch the last 35-40 min. of the match.....that's how good Rüdiger was in that match!

The close calls (Penalty and Offside Goals) were right desicions according to the rules. Even if its soo close. But rules are rules. There are also other debateable calls: 1. Some fouls against Denmark (50:50 Foul desicions went against Denmark) 2. The 4th minute goal (there are referees who said they would'nt call this block by kimmich) 3. The moment when Sanè was fouled before the 2nd goal und Havertz wasnt able anymore to pass the ball to him.

The truth is, the Danes fully expected to triumph this year. This match against Germany was viewed through the nostalgic lens of the 1992 victory where Denmark beat Germany. I'm in japan now, watching games here, live or on TV without VAR is amazing. I'll take the lower quality football to avoid VAR, fans are amazing, atmosphere is amazing, away fans are always loud for 90 minuets, no var, no Southgate, no diving and placating. Love it

Even if the offside goal becomes a bit absurd and one wonders if the sensor is working perfectly, I can accept it to some extent. However, I have long wondered about the hand rule long before the Danish national team captain mentions the insanity of how the rule looks! We've seen commentators think it's silly to defend in the 'penguin style', but how are they going to manage to run with their hands at their sides, which they obviously have to in order to avoid a penalty situation? Even in header duels, the attackers have a big advantage. To jump high, it is natural to use the arms as help. If the ball touches an arm or hand of the defender, it is a penalty, the attacker gets a free kick against himself. Should the defenders have a magnetic waist pack and wristbands that act inside the penalty area and "tie" the hands to the body? It would be easier for VAR and referees to determine via VAR whether it is intentional or not, instead of judging whether it is a natural position on the arm! The Dane really had a natural position! It would have been ridiculous and impossible for the Danish defender to catch up with a penguin style. Also looked unnatural! In the case of a shot against the goal frame, you probably still have to award a penalty, but a cross...?

@@armingleiner5292 that is exactly the point the rules are neither clear on that. it actually says that desition is a referee desision to make, if the hand is runing in a nature position then it is in the rules you speak of not a penalty, the referee can call it and he did. Germany deserved the win but this way even German fans most admit wasn't how it should have ended. It isn't the ref or germany we call out its var that once again changes the game is that honestly how you want football to be? Football is lossing fans and this is definatly a case that doesn't help. the first goal Germany scored should have counted aswell.

Also marring a German citizen didn’t change the spouse’s citizenship either. In Germany there are no shortcuts and everyone has to apply the same way and is obligated to fulfill a couple requirements bevor even being allowed to apply, like no criminal record, a certain high degree and the ability to communicate in German at least on a B1 level (which means a slightly broken vocabulary and strong accent but good enough to be conversational and understanding the quintessential informations) due to the nationality of relatives

the referee was to petty but he kept at least his line ... the var did ONE error that was the german goal in the 3rd must have counted it was a normal block and he disallowed it and the referee DIDNT even watch it on tv screen that was a big mistake ... everything else wasfine ... both offside was very clear, the handball was very clear ... ther was alot of VAR but thats because it was alot of close calls so 1 error in the end that hugly disadvantage germany so can someone explain me why the danish are complaining ? about what ? offsides ? xD

Dude rewatch the clip.. his hand is so far outstretched it’s clearly a careless reflex and not just happenstance due to his run, he was almost motionless by the time he stood and tried to make the tackle, and his hand was in a very unnatural spot. He even quickly rips his arm to his side when he notices he fucked up. Hand was out and even above his shoulder, it’s a pretty clear hand ball decision

Look at the scene. Raum and Havertz immediately reported handball. Due to the handball, Havertz was unable to get to the ball. I agree not to penalize such handball if it cannot have any influence on the game. But here the trajectory of the ball was changed on the way to Havertz. Sorry, but that has to be a penalty.

I would say Germany were unlucky not to score at least 4 goals, Kai Havertz had 2 clear goal opportunities. Which had nothing to do with the ref or VAR. Denmark were outplayed. They had some chances but not many. 9 shots on target for Germany with 4 off target tells you all you need to know , Denmark had 2 shots on only? Germanys pass completion and possession were also miles better. Germany had 4 offsides given to them and Denmark 3 offsides. The penalty wouldn't have changed much as it should have been 3-0 before the pen and Denmark thanks to schmeical were VERY lucky not to concede at least 2 before half time.

This offside was whistled because the position of the foot was incorrect. Personally, I think that's an exaggeration. On the other hand, in all games I see professional footballers who behave as if they don't know the offside rule. Maybe we are on the way to abolishing the rule because the meaning is questionable and has little influence on the quality of football as a whole. The penalty, however, couldn't be clearer.

Jack Grealish got away with a bigger Handball in the FA Cup SF, with the same officials. His arm was far away from his side

Every big decision was right.

Lets make the handball rule simple then . If hits your hand it is hand ball. If there is any below-the-waist contact and the player falls over and screams loud enough that rates 6 or above for style it a pen or why not just contact.And if your going to use var maybe use to spot playacting as well with all this face clutching for a tap on the ear

The VAR experiment has obviously failed, I'm afraid. There was no WAY the Denmark goal was offside and the "handball" penalty decision was very dodgy, to say the least. What on earth is the point of VAR if it consistently makes the wrong decisions? It should be used ONLY for deciding whether a ball has crossed the goal line, which was what it was designed for in the first place. Also have to say that the overall standard of refereeing at this tournament has been abysmal.

Germany got disallowed an early goal during their most dominant phase due to var. If it had counted the Danish would have been forced way earlier to take risks and open spaces which allowed for Germany to outperform them again after the penalty goal. I think the var was annoying the decisions factual correct but against the spirit of the rules, however I don't think they changed much about the final result. The Danes put up a strong performance and fight, as did our German team. Both had phases of inconsistency however overall it was a great game, fun to watch aside all the var bs and a deserved win for Germany

Leave it to FIFA to institute a review system but no clear cut rule guidelines. VAR was a disaster from the start. I remember at the 2018 world cup final, when Croatia got screwed by the Argentine ref taking like 10 minutes and having go back to VAR twice because he didn't know how to interpret the rule and wasn't sure what a penalty was. Instead of sticking with the original call because he wasn't sure he chose to appease the more popular team. Today I see them disallow a goal by showing an animation of the Denmark player's big toe being offside and calling it a no goal, give mea break.. Then minutes later call a penalty that really penalty worthy. Penalties need to be only called if it's blatant. If the ball hits a guy while in normal motion it should not be a penalty. If I'm falling down I'm not gonna tuck my arms but extend to break the fall. I'm watching the Argentina Peru game now and they give Argentina a penalty after the ball hit the dude's armpit while he is falling down. If anything I would change the rules to call it an indirect free kick instead of going straight to penalty depending how severe it looks

"Penalties should only be called when they are blatant". Which achieves nothing, because what you think is blatant will not be blatant to someone else and vice versa. It doesn't matter how you make the rules or apply them, 50% will always agree with a decision and 50% will complain about it.

If a ref does not know how to interepret a rule, how does that make VAR bad? Do you actually think before you type? You just made a point FOR VAR by complaining about refs being incompetent in interpreting rules...

Difference being, England played shite then and still got through. Germany played well and won 2-0 and should have been higher plus 2 goals disallowed too, so Denmark has no point complaining here. I can understand when Denmark fans are bitter because the way these two decisions came to be in such a short time it is heartbreaking, but the decisions themselves were correct. I would have been furious too at first but Denmark did not do enough in this match for a valid complaint tbh. Just every man behind the ball most of the game and hope for corners and free kicks, that is just not enough to beat good teams.

The hand Pen were ridiculous, he got a ball shot at his hand while in forward motion from 1 metres distance. >He had no chance in hell to remove it. And it were even just touching two fingers loosely. The offside were with two millimetres. 2!

We had a goal disallowed in the 4th minute, it was a foul but the ref made the correct decision, before Germanys pen Germany had at keast 4 shots on target and Denmark had 1 shot off target. Denmark played very closed in the first half and Germany forced 2 saves from Denmark which they needed to save because they would have been goals. The pen was harsh but Germany were always going to score. The offside for Denmark was for the rules unfortunately but Denmark would not have won that gamw, Havertz missed 2 clear goals opportunities also. I understand VAR is annoying but Denmark didnt play better than Germany.
