  • @vinesrealtygroup

    @vinesrealtygroup

    2 ай бұрын

    I think the ease and cost of parking varies some with the size of the city or town you’re in. From our experience, the smaller the town or city, the cheaper and easier parking is to find. That’s why we typically try to pick up a car after leaving the major city we fly into and drop it off on our way back in, which is what we did in Munich. And I’d say the cost was about on par with what you’d pay in the US. Hope you have a great time on your trip! ☺

    It was not very crowded at all! We just recently got back on May 31. From people we talked to it sounded like it would get a lot busier in June. So I’m glad we went when we did! And I think you do need an international drivers license, but I didn’t look into it too much because I already had one from a previous trip.

I was thinking of flying to Hamburg then briving over to berlin then south to Nuremberg and then Munich and ending in berchsgaden and the obersalzberg. I'm hoping to be able to rent a vehicle that i can sleep in but I'm afraid that might be a hope to far. Of course the Idea is to avoid the cost of hotels. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks. That sounds like a great itinerary! I’m not 100% sure, but it sounds like from the little bit of looking I did that Germany has a lot of places you could park a sleeper van, and as long as you don’t unpack stuff outside of the van like you’re camping then you would probably be fine.

  • @vinesrealtygroup

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Rebecca, thanks for watching our video! Depending on the price, I think I probably would rent a car again. It's obviously an added expense, but we liked the flexibility it provided, knowing we could go anywhere at anytime. And though I've heard the trains and buses are fantastic in that region, part of me thinks some of the things we did (like the Seebensee hike) might've been more difficult to figure out without a car. If we were just visiting bigger cities (Munich, Salzburg, etc), I probably would've opted for trains. I'm sure you'd have a great experience either way though!

    Did you wing it as far as hotels or did you book ahead of time? I was looking at tours but seems they are so expensive and doubt my husband would like it. I think driving and doing our own itinerary would be better. Can I ask the approximate cost of your trip

  • @vinesrealtygroup

    @vinesrealtygroup

    Hey Linda! We booked all the lodging ahead of time. I've never used a tour company for a whole trip because I like the flexibility of traveling at our own pace and going where we want when we want. But that does mean more work up front. I don't remember exactly how much we spent. I remember getting a great deal on flights ($450 per ticket). I think we averaged around $80 per night on lodging, and we definitely spend under $100 per day on food for both of us, probably closer to $50-75 most days. Hope that helps!

    I might be too late in answering but there is no toll for cars in Germany, so you are good to go with the Austrian one only! Also the shown itinerary would actually be possible without toll roads, from what I saw - maybe with slight detours. There is actually toll in Germany but only for trucks!
