    I was having a difficult time with the part where you tug on the yarn to create a "double" stitch. After watching closer, I realized the yarn was wrapped around my needle in a loop compared to the "up and over" look that your stitches had. I slipped the stitches the opposite way in order to correct this and was then able to achieve the "double" stitch after tugging on the yarn. Thank you for a close up view and now I'm going to take a dive into the best way to wrap yarn around my needles when I do knit/ purl stitches. Thank you again and all the best!

    Thank you for quick and clear tutorial video. I have been knitting for almost 39 years and never used short row knitting. I have a pattern I am stumped on because it says to slip stitch but doesn't mention short row knitting at all. I asked for help on a knitting group and was told I needed to work short rows. Why doesn't the pattern state that? All it says is to slip stitches. Your video has helped me to not have to change neck style on pattern. Thank you!

  • @TheBlueMouseKnits

    Thank you :) I think you can substitute them, but you might have to ask the designer if that will change anything first. The placement of the turns might be a bit different if there's a stitch pattern to follow instead of just stockinette. Hope that helps

    So you knit this back and forth? For how many rows? And when it’s done you continue your work in the round like normal?

  • @TheBlueMouseKnits

    @TheBlueMouseKnits

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi, yeah you knit back and forth for as many rows as your pattern tells you to. And when it's done you do continue knitting in the round as normal. The amount of rows needed for short row shaping depends on the project that you're making and the shaping that you want to create

    For in the round short rows, once you complete all your short rows, is that when you the all the stitched in the round? So basically you turn for all your short rows back and forth, then knit all your stitches? I am knitting a bottom up Ragland in the round and want to shape the back for an inch and my gauge is 8 rows per inch. Bc of this video I think I understand it but i wanted to make sure again. 🙏🙏

  • @TheBlueMouseKnits

    @TheBlueMouseKnits

    Yep, that sounds right! You work back and forth for a bit (usually about 1" for shaping in sweaters) and then you continue working in the round again to resume your regular sweater pattern.

    So say you knit all of your double stitches in a round on the right side, is there going to be holes? It’s the problem I was having with standard short rows and was getting frustrated with it.

  • @TheBlueMouseKnits

    You shouldn't get any holes, as long as you work the DS as a normal stitch you should be good. I've never had holes with this method, it's why I love it so much it really is nearly invisible unless you're looking hard for it.
