Even Italy was a nightmare. The leadership was too busy looking for glory and trying to become famous. Which led to a lot of allied bloodshed

And also like u know MOUNTAINS FUCKING EVERYWHERE and a god damn civilwar making everything way more chaotic where does this misconception Italy was easy come from? The only easy part was Sardinia thanks to Italian monarchists doing everything by themselves and South Italy for the monarchists again after that the allies lost ton of men despite a 5-1 advantage.

British: "Alright chaps, just stick to the plan and we can destroy their army in a few fell swoops" American Commanders Patton and Clark: "How about I don't lmao" In all seriousness the Patton in Sicily and Clark in Rome were awful and made life hell for the other allied soldiers by just disobeying the plan constantly. Not to crap on American commanders, they did really well in France, they just did poorly in Italy

@@luke5442 Tommy kept on saying how good the footage is so i thought it would be kinda interesting to mention since its a documentary. Wanna know more? Both tanks can sport the same main gun but one is heavy armored and designed to move over trenches and the other is a fast medium tank for open terrain (Africa f.e.) 🥸🥸

@@NRProductionss The Cromwell was designed to replace the Crusader (wich was used heavily in Africa). Development startet in 1940 and first deployment was at D-Day 1944. So yeah youre right: Never touched African ground. BUT it was developed for this purpose and kind of environment and i just wanted to amke an example ;)

I feel like the documentary only really brings up the tactical battle aspect of the war. While understating the wider strategic and economic aspects and reasons for why people acted the way they did. Still it’s a pretty good video for an simplified view of ww2.

Tommy about your question-wondering about the people of Caen during the bombings there is a documentary about the tunnels underneath Caen where the people stayed for the longest time hidden and only came out for supplies. At least it should be Caen because they had talked out it being in Northern France.

Hey tommy if you want more detailed ww2 videos you should check out TIK's battle storm series, Market Garden and any of his North africa videos are very good. I would also recommend you watch the chieftains "myths of american armor" talk, busts a lot of Sherman myths that this video brought up. Such as "Sherman armor bad" "need 4 shermans to kill a tiger" Generally this history channel level video is just a retelling of old ww2 sterotypes that oversimplify the conflict into the tropes that we all know today (and are mostly wrong. While ignoring the less exciting details, for instance when they mention 88's and King tigers that they that they made up 1% of the German equipment in the same category. Most German tanks were PZ3/4's and most of their AT guns were Pak 36 and 38 which were in the less exciting 37 and 45mm caliber. Also its been shown that allied air power didn't actually kill that many tanks it more scared the Germans but the Typhoon wasn't a tank busting god like the HS-129 or the IL-2

Someone get Tommy to check out the major battles of Italy like Orthona, i think he will agree that the best theater to be in for the allies was probably homefront production because all the theaters sucked very much

any historian who claims that italy just switched sides, cannot be described as an historian. the italian civil war that accured when mussolini was deposed, was the darkest period on italian history, the thing is, that was not a planned civil war, it started cause the germans invaded northen italy and the allies kept the south. police, soldiers and any ordinary citizen with different loyalisties, would start shootings everywhere, and america giving weapons to the mafia definitely didnt help any side at all. people also say that italy betrayed germany, when in reality, germany betrayed all of its allies, by invaidng them and occupy them, romania, hungary, italy, victhy france. sometimes you should inform yourself instead of learning history by memes.
