GERMAN Rapper reacts | Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa | Coke Studio

Музыка

This song is a deep dive into Sufi rock. It's more a complaint than a praise for Allahu but still the topic is obvious. The mere human Muslims are asking god for explanation on different problems in the world. They emphasize that it was them, spreading his word and being the strong believers. Finally they end the song with a prayer and positive vibes. The rhythms used in this are very spectacular and remind me of Progressive Rock. It was very interesting to see them speaking up on the creator in this song, while most of the Sufi songs are a praise on him or the prophets or ancestors.

the girl is complaining to God. and the guy is singing what God would respond to such complaints... Its a famous poetry ( MY fav tbh)... Shikwa (human Complaint) and Jawab e Shikwa (reply to the complaint by God) are combined and shortened in this song.... This poetry is written by world's famous Allama Muhammad Iqbal aka Poet of the East.

The first part of the song is actually a complaint (shikwa) by human/muslim to Allah (GOD) which is sung by the Natasha Baig, Female singer. The second part is the answer of that complaint by GOD (Jawab-e-shikwa) sung by Fareed Ayaz & Abu Muhammad Qawwal. These are two separate poem which were written back in 1924. You can find the english explanation of these poem on Internet very easily

The qawwali singers have plenty of wonderful coke studio tracks that are more easily digested, if you will. I’d check out aadam or kangna, much less to interpret and the music is more enjoyable to sit back and take in

I loved that u tried your best to understand this masterpiece. I remember the first time listening to this, I was also completely blank. Reason being that I was not familiar with Iqbal's work. Also bcz this poem was simply written in Farsi(Persian). Farsi is a language that has been used by the Muslims of the SUB-CONTINENT for centuries but as time passed, muslims picked on Urdu rather than Farsi. I being a Millennium Pakistani am not very much familiar with Farsi but my Dad is. He gave me some insights of this masterpiece and the rest I researched on my own. I've gotta say brother, Farsi is a beautiful language and this song by Coke Studio is a true masterpiece. Every time I listen to it, I get Goosebumps. I hope to see more of your work, reviewing SUFI music. Next plz do 'BOL HU'.

Shikwa = complaint Jawab= answer Jawab e shikwa = answer to complaint. These are two poems written by Philosipher poet Muhammad Iqbal around 1920s. He is our Goethe equivalent, who did his phd in germany (munich and heidelberg) theres even a street named after him in heidelberg. Iqbal uffer. The first part is shikwa, complaint of disheartened state of muslims in world. The second part jawab e shikwa, is the answer from God, on why the believers are in sorrow state.

It was written when most the muslim world was under colonial rule

Hey nice reaction but there are few problems with understanding this 1 These are two very long poems Shikwa ( Complaint) and the other one is Jawab e Shikwa (The Answer) both by Dr. Iqbal. They have sung hardly 2% of the full poems so naturally its hard to make any sense with that. 2 There is whole islamic history and beliefs and situation of Muslims in early 20th century in the background which you are not familiar with. 3 Translation is not the best sometimes one word have a full history lesson or a story behind it so it becomes very hard to translate. 4 Even those people who have Urdu as there native language and have some background knowledge find it hard to understand because it's in classical Urdu. BTW Even if you consider the craftsmanship only poems are no less then master pieces, well they are narrated by Zia Mohiuddin sahab with explanation in English if you wish to hear the full versions.

Shikwa and jawab e shikwa were from two books written by the Greatest poet of the East. Allama Iqbal before the partition of India when it was a british colony, muslims were weak so he wrote shikwa(complaint) to God in which he complaint about all the things which os a big poem and only a very small part is in the song, so clerics and scholars of islam ruled him as an outsider and in return Allama Iqbal wrote Jawab e Shikwa(God's Answer) that why muslims are weak now and God reminded them their glorious past. These two books are a masterpiece they have such big impact on society that made revolution. IQBAL died in 1938. In 1940 Pakistan resolution was passed and in 1947 we got out independence from British Rule. So these shikwa and jawab e shikwa has a very big importance in the awakening of Pakistani muslims.

When it talks about slavery at 13:27 it doesn't only mean Slavery in literal sense. Although Islam did eliminated Slavery through reforms. It makes more sense to regard that slavery in this masterpiece poetry (Kalaam) as to the slavery that Humans were in at that time and still are; the slavery of Self. Becoming a slave to the desires of your heart and things that makes no sense (idols) and are temporary like Money, Health, Power, Popularity etc. Islam means surrendering your wills to the wills of Allah, rightly so, that is slavery, but Islam also means Peace. In a whole sense Islam means Peace through Surrender. That's why you see so many reference regarding slavery in lyrics of Coke Studio's songs. It's not in bad way as it seems. When you look at all the things that a Human becomes a slave of, it is because he think it will give him Peace but it doesn't always happen that way and often it becomes an headache. In the Answer to the Complaint, Allah counter question his devotee (Muslim) that "who freed mankind from slavery of Idols and Self?" So to remind his devotee that it was his generous gift in form of Islam that liberated/freed Human Race from becoming a Slave of something that can't give them peace. Also, Allah indirectly answers that it wasn't your strength that did my job of freeing Human Race from slavery, it was my generosity and the revolutionary idea of Islam that did so. The Devotee (Muslim) itself is part of Human Race, He (Arrogant) thinks he has done Allah some favor by believing in him and doing his part? The Muslim himself would've been in darkness like others if it weren't for the mercy and generosity of Allah. And Allah continues to Answers the point raised by Muslim Devotee through many perspectives and examples....It's just amazing.

Ive memorised this whole poem (Shikwa) means (question /complain) (which was written as Muslim complaining God (Allah) (the female part of this song) and its 2nd part is "(Jawab e Shikwa) means answer to complaints from God (Allah) (the male part of this song) in my primary and it is actually written. By famous poet "Allama Iqbal" in Pakistan. Coke studio have amended and combined both of the poems abit. There is a whole history about this poem. And let me tell you every relegious song is not a prayer. Muslims dont pray while beating drums and playing guitar or anyother musical instrument. This poem was written in times when Pakistan was fighting for its freedom from India and british people. I cant tell you the whole story here. This poem "Shikwa"was actually about a debate between a Muslim complaining to God (Allah) And then in "Jawab e Shikwa" God (Allah) give response to that Muslim.

first part is about shikwa(complaint) that is sung by the lady and the next part is jawab e shikwa (response to a complaint) sung by the men...both poetries were written by Allama Iqbal but they are originally very long. The concept of shikwa is that the poet is complaining to Allah that why muslims today are in bad condition despite being the believer in one true God that is Allah and the poet is giving all sort of references that we did this and we did that for Your sake but now You are not helping us and we are in a devastated state.... then in jawab e shikwa the poet replies to his own complaint on behalf of God ..and God is saying that yes your ancestors were successful because they obeyed me and did hardwork and used their brains...but you are sitting with your hands closed and waiting for a miracle..there is no useful skill you have acquired etc

The female singer is complaining to god for the poor condition of Muslim in the today's world. She is reminding the god,the favours of Muslims. The male singer is replying the complaint from the God. He told that Muslims did believe in just God. The Muslims had unity in old daysbut nowadays the Muslims has not unity. Your ancestors were rulers because they have unity and believe in just one god. Your present condition is because of your activities of disgracing your oiwnself and disbelief. God always return better than expectations. These are two poems" complaint" and "answer of complaint"written by the "poet of east",Allama Muhammad Iqbal. It was written in about 1924. Sikhwa means complaint. Jawab e sikhwa means answering the complaint. The first part is believers or humans complaining about small things, even though they should be grateful for all they have. The part where the man comes in is the answer given to the people complaining. It’s says more like you complain but you don’t see the things Allah has given you. You only complain about little things. Don’t see the big picture. They answer in place of Allah saying. As long as you believe in Prophet Muhammad (saw) I will always be with you. It doesn’t matter if you have sinned a 1000 times. As long as you come back Allah will forgive you. It doesn’t matter if you’re a non believer. When you become a believer Allah will be there for you. This was not really a sad song. More a conversation of devotees. This however was a hard song to understand if you don’t have a lot of knowledge about religions or Islam. If you have any more questions. Just ask. We are happy to help you understand. Like always love from Amsterdam 🌺

In this poem there are two parts in first part the complain and then reply to complain from God . As since last century Muslims are facing lots of persecution for being Muslims so as a Muslim in the first part there is complain to Allah and in the second part according to the poet the God addresses the Muslims today and God tells Muslims that they are themselves to be blamed for their bad situation as they are not as devoted to walk on the right path as their ancestors were and if they still sincerely follow the true guidance of Allah and His Prophet Muhammad (saw) then they will be so powerful that they will write their own destiny

This poem is written by The Great poet of East. Dr Muhammad Illama Iqbal 1877 _ 1938. He is Pakistan’s national poet. Most of his poetry is related to Sufism and Patriotism. Because during his time. Muslims were struggling for independence from Britain. His poetry provoked the courage of Muslims to fight for their freedom. We Asians especially people of subcontinent respect him a lot. And I don’t like the way these singers turned this sophisticated piece of poetry into such a savage performance. If they really knew the message given by Illama Iqbal through this poem. They wouldn’t have dared to ruin it. But your reaction is honest. Al though you don’t know the background of this poem. Still you try to comprehend the message. I appreciate that. 👍🏼

Hi dear, this is written by a poet called iqbal. I will summarise it in one of his couplet. O Lord your free men are not so free. In this world its a compulsion to die And in hereafter its a compulsion to live.

Hello kojac, nice reaction, but i can see the lyrics was confusing for you but you tried your best, though i like this one but if i were to recommed you something i wouldn't this one to you because its too lyrical for you to understand specially when you listen to it for very first time and have no idea that who they are addressing and how two poems are mixed here and the background of the poems, i see people in every comment told you about the poems so you must know by now but in this song the male singers part was a little long and a little boring and was not the best lines from the poem however the end was the soul of it, if you could read a few lines online you would know as you looked like having some questions unanswered,

I get your confusion tbh. I am a Muslim but the response from God was posed as extremist in my opinion. It felt more like a condemnation of any person who decides to not follow God and he will be in hell forever (kind of like a threat). But this is the first time i am listening to the song, maybe the hidden message is clearly delivered in the language that it was actually written in (persian). I am a devoted Muslim, but every time Allah is presented as threatening, i sense that something can be wrong. The response from God seemed more like a threat than a response

It is more of a complaint by the Muslim community to Allah. The Muslims, who are religious and follow the commandments of god are asking why all the troubles and disasters are happening mostly with the Muslims. Why those who truly worship Allah are poor and being oppressed. They are remembering about their great past in agony, when God was merciful to them and showered them with his blessings and power.
