German POWs in Italy and Germany (SFP 186)

The first part of the video shows German POWs in Italy. On May 2nd 1945 German soldiers laid down their arms as the terms of the German unconditional surrender. You can see the masses of Wehrmacht members escorted by the US-Army. At 3:13 there probably is (according to the uniform) a German soldier belonging to the Panzer troop, who stands next to US-Soldiers smiling at the camera.
At 03:22 you can see Hermann Göring during May 14th/15th 1945, who was interviewed among others by Klaus Mann (son of Thomas Mann) on May 11th 1945 in Augsburg.
Starting at 03:37, the last part of the video shows masses of German POWs. On May 9th 1945 more than 40,000 German POWs were escorted through the Vogtland, including Plauen, Klingenthal, Tannenbergsthal, Morgenröthe, Jägersgrün, Hammerbrücke.

When I I was 18 i worked with an Austrian in his 50's. At16-17 he was one of the last conscripted into the German army, but had no training. Because he could ride a motor cycle they made him a motorcycle message courier. As the German government and army ceased to exist he was close to home with enough petrol and a motorcycle and so he rode home. Being in the Russian zone in Austria he dismantled the BMW, wrapped the parts in oily rags, placed then in wooden crates and buried them in a barn. After the Soviet occupation ended he retrieved the crates, painted the green parts red, reassembled the machine and had himself a nice motor motorcycle.

Terrific. Love it. I had a Japanese friend years ago whose father was in the war. He, the father, spoke English so he was assigned to listen in to west coast USA radio broadcasts and that was swing. He loved it and spent his espionage career during the war tapping his feet to good ol' American swing.

This was good viewing. I gained a sense of 'thank goodness that's over'. The German soldiers, civilians and US soldiers all just getting on with trying to start getting back to normal. Maybe not so happy scenes further East where Germans surrendered to the soviets?

+Bill Blinky All German soldiers are so lucky in the film because most ran to Americans to escape responsibilities for war crimes they done in Russia. They did not burn villages together with inhabitants in USA or bombed cities, therefore feel relaxed under American patronage. They escaped responsibility!

+Chest Rockwell No, you are very wrong. Hitler invaded the USSR, after the Germans got their asses kicked at Stalingrad, Leningrad, Moscow, Kursk, etc Hitler permitted retreat, with a scorched earth policy. He did not want the Red Army to have anything of possible military value. Excuse me for asking, do you need a detailed history lesson or would you be satisfied with an abbreviated lesson?

Woman have fallen a long way, and I fear few, very, very few will ever recover from the fall. I am quite the envy of men as my wife looks, and acts like a woman. My friends say - I sure wish I had what you to have = A great relationship, as my wife TRULY loves me. Se always wears a long, full skirt, or dress - nothing tight and revealing (women who do that are doing it for other men not their husband else they would keep it at home). My wife is always respectful to me: always goes out of her way to help me if I need her help, and will often help even if I don't ask. She does not nag or bicker, does not run around, or go out for a "girls night out". does not tell me what I can, or can not do, she does not go out and spend money on useless crap, and more and more on clothes, shoes and purses. She does not adorn herself with jewelry, nor does she plaster on makeup (she does not use any at all and looks beautiful and natural ) - My wife puts on no false fronts, and never has. she is an excellent cook and house keeper, can sew, knit, crochet, etc, plant a garden, and always have a meal waiting for me when I come home from work - Yep - she is the way they once were, they way God created them to be. And she loves to be with me as much as I love to be with her - in fact, everyone I know, knows if you see one, you see the other, and it's the way we love it. I have a great deal of respect and trust in her, and love her with my life, for she is worth it.

Michael in S Fl It is quite astonishing what good knowledge you have on the Rhine meadow camps. Nothing of importance, but ten thousand died. In Russia they had wooden huts, wood for cutting to light a fire and some soup or cabbage every day. Not very much. but my father lived there for three years. What do you think should have been done to those who nuked women and Children at Hiroshima and Nagasaky ? Maybe the 'inspectors' who examined the peeled skin of grilled babies ! You should really think before you talk rubbish.
