In the the end the Finnish attacked the german army. Still the Germans have more respect for the Finnish than the Italians for switching sides and protecting their independence. Before that they were reliable partners.

I have a huge respect for Germany. They hold my favorite martial history in their books. They fended off Rome and proved that the empire could be defeated in a devastating way. They were the fathers of the Franks and Saxons two powerful people groups. They created the Holy Roman Empire by joining the different German states together under one Emperor. The Prussian Empire was one of the greatest and mightiest European powers at that time (except maybe Great Britain). They unified and were very powerful during WWI and WWII. Not only this but they build magnificent things. Great old cities filled with culture and history. Germany is the home to so many great thinkers and inventors. The US is thought to be a great nation for its inventions but Germany was where those inventors were born. Sadly the German nation has lost much of its glory because of the Nazi party. Germans are a people group, Nazis are members of a political party. They are not the same. Für das Vaterland!

I was stationed in Germany with the US Army in the mid to late '80s in Baumholder, Rheinland. I trained and worked with the German military often and enjoyed my time there. Germany will always be my 2nd country. I was with the 8th Infantry Division in the Field Artillery from 1985-1989. I will always support Germany, even though I am American.

I'm an American from Santa Fe, New Mexico, and while serving my country a couple of years back, in the US Air Force base of Alamogordo, I made a lot of friends among the Luftwaffe pilots and crews that are stationed there with their families. Great guys, tremendously proffesionals flying their German-made Tornado fighter-bombers.I have to say this : we all in the USAF are more than happy to have them (at last !) on our side if a war should ever break out, God forbid it. They sure make fantastic allies to rely on.

Das die aktuelle Situation bei der Bundeswehr nicht perfekt ist, ist wohl jedem klar. Aber es wird daran gearbeitet, wenn vllt auch in kleinen Schritten. Der Titel bezieht sich auf das Potential des deutschen Militärs im allgemeinen und das schläft halt aktuell ein wenig ;)

Und mal am Rande für all die Patrioten und Stolzdeutschen hier: Eine Armee wie die Bundeswehr ist eine professionelle Geschichte mit Leuten, die ihren Job machen. Da braucht man auf nichts stolz sein oder privat den Bundesadler tragen. Es ist nicht erforderlich, tränenrührige Werbefilmchen zu machen oder Hollywood mit Kriegsmaterial zu unterstützen. Man erledigt seine Aufgabe und gut.

I'm from Germany and I have to say something: I have a huge respect for every single Soldier in our Army, but the most German's haven't, because of our past. It's very sad, also there are not many soldiers.

My total respect for this strong, beautiful and powerful country.

Germany has always had our backs in times of need. A very trustworthy, hard working, well educated, honorable people.

The spirit flame of Deutschland burns bright forever! Long live the land of our Europa heritage and culture!

If one has learned one from history then it is that one should never underestimate Germany. And with the 2ww it has only come because of the Versailer contract because Germany went after it really shitty. But nothing is absolutely the Germans really good guys because I was once in Germany with a relative and I've noticed it myself, although I had my doubts.

of course it would have :) It doesnt matter if you have allies. It matter who they are, where they are and what they do and can do. Its more complex than degrading that situation to a decision. The few people responsible for the cruelty are the very very minority of Germany as they exist in every country.

Indeed! People like to think that the underfunding and the political climate can be a detriment to German potential, but they forget that in the 1930s the _Reichswehr_ was in a pitiful state, underfunded, undermanned and underquipped. The _Wehrmacht_ entered WW II having a logistical train mostly consisting of wagons pulled by horses, and with training tanks in their Panzer divisions due to lack of proper AFVs. And yet they inflicted a humiliating defeat to two of the world´s leading powers, UK & France, in a matter of months. Never understimate the Germans. Many have made the same mistake before, and now their bodies lie beneath the earth, from Paris to Moscow, from Trondheim to Tobruk.

+Werner Sievers ich bin mir sicher die haben auch ihre Probleme. Ich möchte gar kein so übertriebenes Militär wie beispielsweise die Amis, welches jedes jahr 600 milliarden Dollar kostet, Geld welches woanders so viel dringender gebraucht werden würde. Nur sollte man zusehen das man einen gesunden Mittelweg findet.

grundsätzlich richtig. doch wenn man bedenkt das die bw so viele aufgaben übernimmt die viele garnicht auf dem schirm haben. flüchtlingshilfe, katastrophenhilfe. davon wird zwar immer mal berichtet doch die kapazitäten die damit gebunden sind führt sich niemand so wirklich vor augen. aufrüstunge wäre angebracht unter betrachtung was die bw alles leistet.

Nice to see Germany healthy once more and more proud of who they are. Time to get the internal politics and life sorted as well. Michael Riechers Da hast du auch wieder recht, doch wir haben nichtmal eine vernünftige Kanone. Aber das hast du auch angesprochen, dass wir vernünftige Schiffe etc. brauchen und auch (wenn überhaupt) einen Flugzeugträger. Doch wenn wir einen Flugzeugträger bauen, dann wird es ziemlich viel Protest von Frankreich und GB geben, da diese Länder "auch nur" einen haben. Unsere Bundeswehr ist aber nicht wirklich mehr eine Verteidigungs-Armee, denn: Unsere Bundeswehr macht viel zu wenig Schussübungen um gut zielen zu können. Um die Ausbildung zu bestehen, werden pro Person ggf. zwei Magazine verbraucht und dann geht es zur Prüfung. In der Prüfung haben die alle Zeit der Welt um zu Zielen und das War es dann auch schon wieder. Sonst machen sie ein Training mit Platzpatronen. Laut der Bundeswehr ist es so, dass wer üben möchte einen Schießverein besuchen müssen. Weil das der Fall ist bieten manche Schießvereine Rabatt für Polizisten und das Militär an.

Michael Riechers Ich will damit ausdrücken, dass unsere Bundeswehr eher einem "selbstbedienungs-Laden" ähneln. So viel wie diese verdienen. Klar jetzt kann man sagen, dass diese auch in den Krieg ziehen müssen, doch ich meine die höher gestellten. Diese, die weit hinten im Krieg sind. Man steckt in dieser "Verteidigungstruppe" viel zu viel Geld in unnötiges. Ich wollte damit auch deine These aufgreifen, dass man das Geld in bestehendes pumpt und um das bestehende zu erhalten (die Soldaten), damit diese bestmögliche vorbereitet sind auf alles, finde ich, dass Schießübungen das grundlegende Fundament für alles sind. Das man von einem Torpedo eines Zerstörers nicht getroffen werden will (bsp) das ist auch klar. Ich muss dir leider in dem Punkt wiedersprechen, dass der größte Teil der Bevölkerung eher denkt, das die Bundeswehr überbudgetiert sind. Das ist es gerade. Viele Leute leben in ihrer eigenen Welt. Wir sollten es doch schon mit den Attentaten wissen, dass es nicht der Fall ist oder mit anderen. Fast jeden Tag wird doch in den Nachrichten berichtet, dass der Weltfrieden nicht gegeben ist. Wäre alles gut in der Welt, dann hätten wir bsp. keine so hohe Anzahl an flüchtigen (sry für das heikle Thema was ich als bsp. nutze) -Großmachtdenke: Klar wir haben aus der Geschichte gelernt, doch GB stellt sich doch auf ein extra Podest. Früher hatten diese ja viele Kolonien, was du bestimmt weißt, und es ist weiterhin so, dass die denken über diese Länder, die sie früher erobert haben, weiterhin zu regieren. Siehe auch EU Austritt. Der größte Teil der Bevölkerung (der jüngeren Leute) wollten das nicht. Oder mit ihren Königen etc. Sie sehen sich immer noch als Großmacht und wollen als "Alliierten" nicht das DE das wieder macht, da sie immer noch ein Teil von den die denke betreibt, dass wir Nationalsozialistisch sind. Siehe (ein etwas schlechteres bsp.) die Türkei. Sie hat es doch so oft erwähnt was wir sein sollen. Zudem: Wenn wir aufrüsten, wären wir die zweit stärkste Macht in der NATO. Bei der Brittischen denke löst das kein Jubel aus.

Glad to see that the German military keeping up strong as ever and training very well as ever. This is their heritage and tradition.

I love the fact that the G3 (MG42) is still in service. What an absolute best of a weapon system.

The Germans contributed a large amount of its techniques and technology into this civilization we stand, in the field of medical, crime detection, military tactics, weapons ingenuity, politics, and engineering, truly a country a pure blooded German can put pride and honour to his kind, and if only the Germans helped us Filipinos against the Spaniards and Americans during our troubled times, my country could have been a well respected country in the south east, instead of helping the Chinese .

Yes, I can still remember this sentence very well, I had to pronounce it a long time ago even loudly on my swearing-in! But at that time I didn't know that this sentence would still be relevant for me 20 years later. 21 years crawling in the mud was enough for me!

I am Jewish and I admire the German people. It is a very unique nation who have contributed more than any other nation in history to the humanity. Half of the inventions were made by Germans. Even an orphan and disabled pension was created in Germany. Long live germany!!

To be honest the pure Germanic people are great warriors and have proven this throughout history from the germanic people crippling the Roman Empire to the 3rd Reich..they show enormous military strength with just a few number to a mass of millions through discipline and will....and they never give up from the cold city of stalingrad to the burning capital of Berlin
