I'm an American. My mother's people came to America from Germany before our Civil War in the 1840's. So many of us here take pride in our German ancestry. Military history is a passion of mine so I am well aware of the Prussian army and it's exploits.

My family has been American since the Revolutionary War when my many times Great Grandfather served 3 1/2 years in General George Washington's command but I must say having German ancestry on both sides of my family I have a great liking for these old German military marches.

Dagger1955 I got military prowess in my blood as well (German, Scandinavian, and Japanese descent), and I've had family in the US since the early 19th Century.

yeah you see, assulting those dishes in the kitchen sink, require me to go into war mode and overcome my worst fears.

Das Neutron Warum war Wilhelm I besser ? Der hat doch fast gar nicht regiert sondern hat sich zurückgezogen und hat Bismarck alles im Alleingang machen lassen. Wilhelm I sagte mal : "Es ist nicht einfach unter Bismarck Kaiser zu sein."

Wilhelm 2 war am wenigsten von Allen Schuld ;) Musst dich schon mit ihm beschäftigen. Ich denke es hat keinen gerechteren Kaiser in der Menschheitsgeschichte gegeben.

1. Sind wir aus Bündnistreue in den Krieg gezogen. 2. Hat Wilhelm II. bis zuletzt versucht durch persönliche Korrespondenz mit dem russischen Zaren den Krieg zu verhindern. 3. Die Alleinschuld die den Deutschen gegeben wurde, wurde uns nur gegeben um uns durch Kriegsschulden den Todesstoß zu versetzen. Überdenkt: Deutschland war jung und den etablierten Nationen ein Dorn im Auge, war es doch die gebündelte Wirtschaftskraft fast aller deutschen Lande.

I like the spectacle of the German Army marching to the sound of Preussischer Prasentiermarsch down the Champs Elysee.

@biggrigga You are right. This was the theme song to "Storm over the Nile". What a film this was. I have searched everywhere for this march. It is the best ever to my mind. I love it!! The German royals are the ones to compose great marches.

This song is the best. And even more for someone sitting on a horse. Seriously, this song helped me so much in my studies that I regained my position as a topper. :)

Ich kann dich ja verstehen, Svenja, aber ich bevorzuge schon seit langem "ich bin stolz Preusse zu sein" zu sagen, denn wo ich geboren wurde war mal Preussen. Mit dem heutigen Deutschland kann ich mich nicht mehr anfreunden, nur mit Bismarcks Kaiserreich ab 1871 !

NICE! :-) This march is good for keeping the spirit up, while you have to do something you dont like. I can now clean my bathroom or wash up all the stuff lying in the kitchen sink, with this on full volume. Or even storm up from a trench into a barrage of musket fire. :D

No, this is the old inspection and colors presentation march of the German Army. It is also played during visits by foreign leaders to Germany. ;-) Fall under the category of prussia ,,presentations marches".

Ich mag die Saupreussssen.

Sometimes I day dream about having a army of Prussian Zu Fuss gardes and Hussars, they slowly advanced into the center of the battlefield. With Fifers and Drummers playing this. Marching slowly then form up 3 lines. They kneeled and shot 2nd loine shot at the same time standing up. The 2nd line dropped down with the 3rd line standing up and firing! Half the Austrian army is gone and Hussars to finish them off!

He shrunk it down to half of it's former size. I wouldn't call that treating well. But at least he respected their traditions and their greatest king who died some 30 years before he started his conquest

@@carlosmpsenyorcapitacollon6977 This was done at my marriage, since this actually is an inspection or presentation march. In imperial times this was often done as well. As we marched in an local militarised musiccorps started playing it and my comrades started ,,presenting" in eyes right..

I first heard this march in the film "the Four Feathers" when Harry dumps of Jack near a British military outpost after rescuing him from the Mahdi. I thought it was a fantastic march, and I found it here! The Four Feathers is a great film too exposing fake military "courage" (bravado) and those branded cowards who can see through the charade.
