@user-bu9fh3vt2m was there a variant with 4 naval guns? I have only seen anything talking about it describing it as possibly being built with 2 but never heard a description with 4, but that's probably because the 2 naval gun version would barely move to begin with lol

Hubiera sido posible, si retrasamos Barbarroja para el 1945. Los tanques Hiper pesados de Alemania eran extremadamente costosa y difíciles de transportar, unos 4 años hasta sería poco para armar un ejército de ellos.

Igual les esperaba una guerra mundial contra Japón que se iba a anexar mejores territorios más cercanos y también desarrollaba armas exóticas como cañones sónicos disrruptores con los que experimentaron con éxito así como bombas atómicas y prototipos de minas-misil subterráneas (eran un poco más creativos) pero estaban mucho más lejos de terminarse que los que ya estaba saliendo de Alemania.

The Ratte would have been a logistical nightmare if it had come into existence. It definitely would not have moved with frontline units. Would have been kept in rear and used to shell enemy strong points. Even this is doubtful.

I'm curious what if in other universities the P1000 RATTE was successfully produced and used on the Eastern and Western fronts

I think it still could have bin a weapon that wouldnt be decisive. On the Western Front its still an easy target for the Allies air superiority and on the Eastern Front the Sovjets make endless charges or pincer movements to finally destroy the vehicle itself (either with artillery or Infantry climbing on the tank itself), armies who can defense the vehicle around would be in bad shape since the tank is a nightmare to build and to produce. One tiger tank on the battlefield meant 4-5 panzer IV less, cant imagine what this monster could do.

This thing would be as vulnerable to air power as a warship, and it would have even more mechanical failure issues than any of the German WunderTanks, so it would most likley not have changed anything. On top of that, it must be a nightware to pull it when it gets stuck in the mud.

OMG those T-34/85s and JS-2s didn’t stand a chance. What about JS-3s?

I don't think JS-3 (or commonly known as IS-3) armor can resist a battleship cannon that was made to penetrate other battleships armor over kilometers away

No they didn't the T-34s could have just avoided this massive tank and have the artillery do the work as the artillery was way better equipped to take this slow tank out

The concept of the mega tank was very interesting but at the same time was a logistical nightmare(besides of it's own flaws), to even move this giant it must consume biblical amounts of fuel in addition to the monumental maintenance of all its areas, making it unfeasible given the resources that would be required to maintain it.

Even mega heavy tanks didnt have armor above them, the shot that killed the ratte wouldnt pen its side, thats not enough caliber, if it was the sode this guy would be 100% a soviet fanboy, but above the tank it had no armo, just like a battleship it penetrated through the deck and hit the ammo

Alittle bit off, the P1000 was suppose to be armed with the same guns like the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, except triple mounts ,double 280mm 11 inchers, plus a 128mm gun and 2 88mm guns , and alot of AntiAircraft guns,armor would be around 6 inch to 15 inches, thicker armor than on those 2 German BC , closer to the armor on the Bismarck turret those Soviet 203mm Artillery rounds would of bounced off or exploded harmlessly,including those bombs from those Il 2

It's not true that an upgraded Ratte can mount four 280mm SK/C 34 guns in a big turret. The proposed Ratte can up to two SK/C 34 guns in it, but it was cancelled due to impractical design and enormous weight that Germany didn't have an enormous super-heavy tank in the last years of WW2.

ну у каноничной Ratte в башне было 2х280 мм а тут целых 4-е...да и 2 бшни от Мауса(128мм) на фасе то-же откуда ?? от зенитки на корме это по проекту ага да и атакуют ИЛ-2 с кабинами без стрелка а это значит образец до 1943 г хотя Т-34 уже 85 мм а это 1944+...ну и у меня сомнение что короткоствольные Б-4(гаубицы 203 мм спсобны пробить броню Ratte ..тут по факту нужен Ланкастер с 5 тонной бомбой..

Скорее всего, такой танк не стали бы уничтожать, а убили бы всю пехоту, взорвали Тигры, а потом зачистили экипаж Ратте. Это сделать легко просто потому, что Ратте неповоротливый до безумия, а Тигры и так быои лёгкой мишенью для советских противотанковых и танковых дивизий.

Зачем туда Ратте было вводить?...2 Мауса все тоже самое проделали бы...ведь, в 45-ом году, их мало кто мог пробить, а они всех...а вообще, немцам выгоднее было бы производить и дальше Т-4 и Пантеры...ведь даже Гейн Гудериан был за дальнейшую модернизацию Т-4, чем выпускать тяжелые Тигры...
