This is a Haller X2 owned by a small bavarian company called Bilsheim. They collect cardboard and paper waste.

Like many Euro RL's, this Haller is set up for continuous operation of the pack cycle, which is almost never used in the USA. This, coupled with an unusually high (by US standards) loading sill makes the short-stroke packer less of an issue than one would think, especially with a one-man crew. Sort of like an American MSL, but with a rear loader.

Nice video. This compactor is similar to the Norba in that it takes only small `bites'; perhaps the idea is to break up as well as compress the garbage. For myself I prefer larger capacity batches like the 2R and the Geesinknorba GPM.

yes this is 1997! and you are right with the packer. there is a low loading rim version for bulky waste which is used in Berlin. But compared to a 2R, the opening angle is ridiculous.

Nice vid! Old looking truck, and don't see a Haller too often either. The packer wasn't designed to raise much in the hopper... the blade opens up pretty low compared to what it should... looks as if it could easily push material out. Also did you get this in 1997?! - says at 3:00 in the bottom right corner...
