They do exactly wht they're supposed to do and that's to keep your hands warm. If you want to wear protective gloves under them, I'd definitely suggest ordering a size that is one ot two times larger than your glove size. I've got quite large hands and ordered the largest pair. I can't quite get my regular gloves inside the mitts.
