Appearently, he meant the Bundeswehr airforce of the Federal Republic of Germany, not the airforce of the German reich under nazi rule.

What happen to the Soviet aircraft the East German Air Force had at one time ?. I thought they were part of today's Luftwaffe.

Because they are from GDR stocks, they are considered unusable. Some have been placed in museums others are partially stored to this day for example some mig 21s.

The former GDR MIG 29s were handed over to Poland for the symbolic price of one euro per aircraft in 2004, and Poland gave them to the Ukraine this year.

It seems there's more Airbus VIP jets; passenger carries, etc than combat stuff. I guess the plan is (it's Germany we always have a plan) is for 1,000 personnel to fight, and 27,000 flying around watching them. "Wir sind die Schatze Hussaren der Luft"

Most of these jets belong to the "Flugbereitschaft der Bundeswehr" (literally translate: "flight readiness of the german forces), which belongs to the Luftwaffe and are used by German politicians or embassy staff for official foreign visits and missions.

Why can't germany manufacture their own fighter and bomber aircraft? Our allies Japan & Germany need to be able to field their own aircraft instead of relying on us

Uhhh Maybe because USA made them sign a contract to limit their industrial and technological capabilities for military forces? If they wanted they could but as you should know, they don't think 24/7 about wars like USA.

I have a question? Why do the Germans have to send mini nukes to Moscow, for example, with a German plane? The Americans have the same route from Ramstein if they want! Germany allows itself to be blackmailed like this and they don't check it! This is how the US Army can tell that the Germans dropped the mini nukes! That's smart!

No, the Bundeswehr Luftwaffe of the Federal Rebublic of Germany was founded in 1956. The third Reich Luftwaffe was founded in 1935, it´s not the same...
