This what netflix done with oryginal story The Witcher from Andrzej Sapkowky is hideous and the relationship between Gralt and Ciri hardly reflects what was in the books...

@@samsonmiodek1399 That's why I love that the TV show is only BASED on the books, and not intended to be a carbon copy. I prefer this relationship depicted here; creative liberties are taken all the time and this is a really good one.

@@eleanorwatkins6832 It's not even based on the books, it's 90% different and it's done very badly, this series is very similar in level to those 90s productions Xena: Warrior Princess , Hercules or Power Rangers with such a budget. This is not an adaptation, it is a profanation and a disgrace to the phantasy genre.

@@samsonmiodek1399 It is unfair to compare written media to visual media for the ways they are depicted (another good example would be the Harry Potter books and movies). I really disliked the books by Sapkowski for many reasons, but think the TV show is brilliant, namely because it is written much better, I prefer the way the story is told. Most people haven't actually read the books either, because reading is not for everyone. I much prefer reading over movies and TV shows, but it cannot be argued that a book has many confines, ones which are easily broken and further explored by visual depictions. The TV show is not particularly faithful to the books, you are right, but it was not created to be so. Movie/TV show adaptations are never made to follow their books exactly; they take characters and some worldbuilding and make a story from it, one that Sapkowski and the majority of The Witcher fans really enjoy : ) You can certainly prefer the books, but you can't get upset over an 'unfaithful adaptation' when it was not intended as such.

@@eleanorwatkins6832 Agree and also one needs to remember that the screenplays have been written in consultation with Sapkowski.

I love how Geralt is so soft with her. No matter what a hard exterior he represents or how grumpily he behaves with the rests of the world. With her he’s just so different caring, gentle, kind and protective. Now he has the chance to be the real him with her. From going “I need no one” to calling her “Mine” I mean the evolution has been incredible. 💞 My favourite relationship in the books as well as on the show so far.

Loved seeing this side of him with the child. 💞 You are right the relationship evolved perfectly till that 'Mine'. Their bond was the best highlight of season 2

The most impactful moment of season two was when he said the word “MINE” while holding a sword to Yennefers throat. He may love Yennefer but even she can’t come between a father and his child. 👏

@@salmael5239 she isnt, Geralt saved her father and when he offered to reward him he claimed the law of surprise, well the surprise was his Ciri, which her dad did not know her mother was pregnant with. therefore she is bound to geralt by destiny

Well, in season 1 all Ciri did was run away and sleep, the actress didn't have so much to work with. In season 2 she had more storyline so the actress was able to shine.

@@aayushabhattarai81 Geralt didn’t really want to kill Renfri but he was willing to if it came down to it. Her death at his hand left a huge mark on him. She was sort of a foreshadowing for his life. He did everything he could to save the second cursed princess we were shown, Adda, a princess who was born a striga because a jealous man tried to curse her father and resulted in the death of her mother (thus her striga birth). Geralt did whatever he could to make sure she didn’t suffer the same end as Renfri. Both princesses, had they been left alone by the jealous people in their lives, could of potentially lived better, even happy lives. They were victims and turned into monsters (Renfri was known as a Shrike, a kind of bandit/excellent fighter). Ciri is another princess in trouble but being his child surprise, it’s basically his daughter who’s in danger; and he will do anything to save her. There’s no way he would kill her, possessed by an evil entity or not.

I loved how they developed Geralt and Ciri’s relationship this season. Their father-daughter bond is the show’s core.

The evolution of that relationship was absolutely perfect! The way he would have killed Yennifer without even flinching just to protect Cire says what a thousand words never could.

Season 2 was so amazing!!! Loved it. The way Geralt speakes: MINE !! right looking at yennefer. Those expressions are just perfect. No one should fuck with Geralt at that point. Henry cavill owns the role of Geralt of Rivia. Waiting for S3 will be like waiting for an eternity.

How is nobody talking about the insane renfri parallel when ciri went hand to hand combat with grealt? It's so amazingly thoughtful. There is a Big chance that Geralt thought this too.

I wish that Renfri and Ciri could have met. They both princesses with unique powers whom lost their kingdom at such a young age because of what they where born as. Both on the run being Hunted and both want revenge for what they lost. Renfri went through a little more than Ciri because she didn't have a destination to go to or someone like Geralt to protect her. At leas not till later on after so much damage has already been done. Renfri and Ciri has alot in common. It would have been cool had Renfri lived long enough to ment Ciri. Renfri knew about queen calantha battles and imired her. But Renfri died about 20 or 21 years before Ciri was born. But I can just imagine the reaction between the two characters that has so much in common.

Oh also Renfri and Ciri's kindoms are nabors from what I read. I wonder why Renfri was one of the characters to have had visions about Ciri. I mean of all people. Renfri and Geralt mother is the only ones not at queen calantha daughter banquet party whom knew about Ciri being Geralt child of destiny. I haven't read the books. But i have read all about her backstory. Where probably never know as she's dead. But I also wonder if her visions told her whom Ciri was that she too was a princess with unique powers amplified by Elder blood. I wish we got more on Renfri. The show did good with her storyline. But there's more to it than what we saw and heard in the show and I wished that I got to see her entire story play out on screen. But I guess that would take up to much screen time for a season of only 8 episodes.

He’s had so much more character growth since season one because of the responsibility of protecting Ciri😢😌

Damn I love this Witcher universe. All of it. An awesome, brutal fantasy world. And then we’re givin this precious story of a girl who lost everything. And a Witcher that would do anything to protect her. It’s honestly my favorite part is their bond. There’s some really precious moments. But I also can’t wait to see what a badass Ciri is gonna be. She seems to be just as driven as Geralt.

I love their bond…I just can’t help think it’s going to change since finding out her father is alive🤯😳

Amazing edit! You have such talent. I love how you showed the parallel between geralt's fight with renfri and with possessed ciri. Now that I think about it, at least in the show, renfri was almost a foreshadowing of what geralt has been looking for all along - in yennefer, a romantic interest with a lot of fire, and in ciri someone to protect/help feel understood (obvs with ciri it is parental). Renfri was an amazing character played by a great actress, her time in the show was short but sweet - I think in another life him and renfri would have been a great pair, even just as friends.

What I love about Geralt's story with Ciri is that it's purely born from irony and consequence. Geralt was a person who not only didn't believe in destiny, but also spat in it's face in a mocking way by claiming the Law of Surprise. He didn't believe anything was actually going to happen, but then it did. And now his whole story has changed as a result. Before, Geralt's destiny was his own to write. But it was only after he made a mockery of it did he lose that freedom in this story and have it be written for him. It feels like it's playing with the theme of destiny and fate that we see in a lot of stories and putting it in the hands of the characters themselves. I just find that really interesting.

Although they gave her a hard time at first, I love that the Witchers have her as their niece/granddaughter now.

The editing was really so cool. You recap the whole season in just a couple of minute ,specially the last part of renfri X ciri.

Season 2 was good but it was much revolving around Cirix they even made Witcher the second lead in his own show. Hope in the next season they focus more on Geralt. Btw loved the season ❤

I mean, Emhyr certainly deserves that. Particularly in the books. Although I’m betting they’re cutting out the book reasons Emhyr wants Ciri, too disturbing. Witcher 3 Wild Hunt also decided to keep those out, to make Emhyr more palatable for wider audiences.

@@miekelei2761 I haven’t read the books but just watching the series her father ordering the destruction of countless cities and towns just to get to her kind of tells me that he’s kind of a jerk and would be a horrible father. Why does he want her in the books?

@@jen742 Spoiler alert! Leaving some space so other people can avoid the spoilers . . . . . . . . . . In the books Emhyr is not interested in being her father, or having a fatherly relationship with Ciri. In the books he keeps the fact he is Ciri’s father to himself, because his plan is to marry Ciri and beget an heir on her. As emperor of Nilfgaard, that would make his claim on Cintra by conquest legitimate, and his main objective is to fulfill one interpretation of a prophecy, that is, his child would save the world. But that wouldn’t be Ciri, it would be Ciri’s son, so that’s his reason for wanting to commit incest, because he’s convinced this child is his would-be heir. So yeah, maybe too disturbing for the audiences. Unless Netflix nilfgaardians are okay with incest, I think this plot might’ve been dropped out of the show. Emhyr is a Game of Thrones Craster wannabe, basically. . . . . . . . If you’re up for further spoilers, he doesn’t succeed in the books, and while Ciri is aware the emperor is after her for dynastic reasons, she is never made aware that emhyr is her father. He ends up marrying a girl that looks like Ciri and that they pass off as Ciri (search for False Ciri, or Cirilla Fiona, if you’re interested). In season one we saw Calanthe pass a girl off as Ciri to Geralt, and at the time I thought she might be said False Ciri in future seasons. But I dunno.
