She would've been in her sixties, here, and sounded exactly like she did thirty years earlier.

It's so great to see her singing later in life. What a great medley this is, and she's still on top of her game long after the 50's.

What a great performer. Underrated and envied by many more publicly acknowledged singers of the 1950s. Fondly remembered!

One of the very BEST ! A terrific performer who knows how to hold us in the palm of her hand. I remember seeing her as a kid at the Chicago Theater. Great chops !!!

I can make a case for Georgia being the best female vocalist of the 50s. What a talent.

She's great. Can really belt out songs, even 15-20 years after retiring. She's a great performer, too.

I never heard of her until today. I saw her on the Jack Benny shower of stars from 1957. She reminds me of Ottilie Patterson the late Irish blues singer. Both had great "pure" natural voices.

Ashamed to say I only just found Georgia after listening to Carsie Blanton’s excellent version of The Laziest Girl in Town and looking for the original. This is such a great video. Thank you for publishing. 🤗🤗🤗

Gibbs covered a couple hits originally released by black artists (Etta James - Roll with me Henry & Lavern Bakers - Tweedle Dee) so that may be where the confusion came from. It was a common practice of the time, R&B chart toppers were covered to become Pop chart toppers.
