    In slow motion you really see how good Matt Serra was. He literally connected with nearly every single shot he threw at that point and I mean CONNECTED.

    You're fkn high man that or you're here to steer the narrative. NEVER had anyone called Serra a heavy puncher but I hear Rogan pushing this preflight... They're over using terms and phrases like unpredictable etc.. I am dropping this here and now I was fooled in real time they had built George up so big he HAD to lose. Everyone who had a chick who watches fights with him had a big insecurity when gsp fought. Those boxer briefs trunks on those frog like muscular legs. If you didn't poke at your girl tease her like she was so into gsp... to see her reaction if you don't relate to that you just weren't my friend in the early 00's. THIS FIGHT WAS FIXED. such a mismatch. People in the know got rich off this part 1... Nobody really bought the ppv GSP was a guarantee and the card wasn't good. Like they tailored it for lo viewership which makes it easier to get it passed. Really ? Using uppercase CONNECTED? your comment sir is the reason I stayed for the post fight slow mo replay you saying Serra is so good etc are you just being coy? You're a coy boy... You know Matt serra whiffed every single punch and GSP sold those same ones in the lead up to stoppage(rather quick stoppage don't you think?) Think about Dana he and serra are so close right always joking and busting ballz... Dana had this one on the docket and he's literally worried that this shit card might end the brand I mean competition was stuff back then. These guys had a choice Matt gets his head beat in and GSP possibly ends up being jitz'd into arthroscopic surgery despite winning while nobody watches ORRRRR and this was the first ufc highlight of any kind to appear on sports center btw remember??? I do... This supposed to be huge one sided fight on ESPN highlights with the fkn Shaq Kobe Lakers and shit?? Haha sus huh? So GSP slipping was so fake he sold that so well and the chery ontop for all of them Rogan Invluded was part 2 got to happen. And it went the way it was supposed to go. Period. Plus people were buying it now so all the bread was buttered the sharks and whales in Vegas got to taste it possibly the New York deal was sweetened a lil bit off this thing then the fighters who sold their souls they got ppv points and the biggest paydays to date of their careers. Fixed fight prove me wrong I saw George reminiscing some shit on nelk podcast like he slept too well or something he came off so fake immediately I knew the easter bu. Y was fake and very gay.

    this fight actually altered gsp's style quite a lot , from this point onwards he never actually looked for a finish and became very conservative

  • @creategreatness8823

    @creategreatness8823

    Жыл бұрын

    Except he has 4 finishes on his resume after this fight. Try watching the fights. Nothing "conservative" about the insane beating he put on Jon Fitch or Thiago Alves. Dan Hardy he was chasing the submission the whole fight and just couldn't get it. The Koscheck fight could have been stopped at any point by the doctor as Koscheck's orbital was wrecked. Jack Shields he was chasing the big right hand the entire fight and trying to force the knockout. He was almost finished himself by Condit and had to come from behind after getting dropped hard. Three of the fights that he went to decision during this time won "Fight of the Night" awards. It definitely changed his style and made him more reserved but to say it made him "very conservative" and that he "never actually looked for a finish" is a LITTLE extreme.

Classic underdog story. great personalities, the ref didn't stop it like right away and gave GSP every chance... i still remember jumping up and down when we watched it live back in the day. it is just a great fight. plus the fact its GSP getting TKOed is icing on the cake. never really a fan, i mean he has skills, but it was always this take down and stall nonsense, then at the end he would be like, "i am disappointed in my performance, i wanted to finish the fight" but he never made moves to actually finish it...and after this fight he really became "risk adverse"....

    Finally came around to watching this fight and, yeah, GSP got caught. You could see him trying to weave under Serra's overhand to gain a dominant angle on him and just happened to be tall enough to still get clipped in the back of the head (still legal though IMO). This loss isn't the blemish on GSP's legacy that many of his detractors make it out to be.

    gsp said the reason he lost this fight was because he was such a favourite to win that he believed matt serra wasn't worthy to be in there with him. so when George got caught he said to himself "how dare he think he can hit me" and he tried to get up right away instead of guarding up and accepting he got dropped

    Wym “how long they tried to let GSP recover”? GSP had 0 title defenses at the time, so he had to work his way up to another title shot.

    @@Triumphantchild I'm not taking anything away from gsp by any means I'm a huge fan. But the fights supposed to be stopped when hes not intelligently defending himself by UFC's rules. An jus bc your somewhat conscious doesn't mean you can intelligently defend yourself it that makes sence. Jus my personal opinion but I feel like the fight should have been stopped before it did. But gsp being as good as he is an was they let it go longer than they would have with less reputable fighters. I'm not saying it wrong just seeing the fight again years later an hindsight as to what gsp did after that I see things differently than i did when I first saw the fight. He earned the extra time again I'm not taking anything away from him hes the best welterweight ever I'm my opinion. Its jus that my opinion.

    @@Triumphantchild not by my original comment an opinion no I was referring to the fight the video was about. But again that another situation that some may feel was extended bc of who he is. Which is understandable in my eyes. John McCarthy is one of the best refs to ever do it in my opinion. I just feel like he was given more of a grace period if you will than most fighters would have gotten. But at the same time that was earlier in the ufc so maybe that was a factor also. I'm not implying it was malicious it just seems different now looking back. Observation an opinion.
